In the covid time it might worth a thread. There's a 1983 exhibition game between Calgary Flames and team USSR. It has Russian commentary. It is a production of USSR TV, so I assume it does not violate any copyrights.

The game was played in Calgary. It was Bob Johnson's first season as Flames coach. Flames featured Lanny, Nillson, Reinhart and Chouinard among others. Edwards was the goalie. USSR team had some all-time greats such as Fetisov and Larionov.

I was pretty young but remember this game. As a kid at least, these games were huge as a kid and some were classics (Canadiens and Flyers vs Red Army for example). This game was against the Soviet national team, other years it would be different teams that toured.

All I personally remember was Edwards getting the start as it was hoped he’d get on track after being quite the disappointment since his acquisition.

I didn’t watch much of the clip but look at how good Reinhart was on the PP and the way they set up Lanny for the one timer. Those two guys would look fantastic on the current edition of the team.

Amazing to see this video, this game is one of my fondest hockey memories. I went with my dad and my grandpa. We were in the top row of the Corral and by the end of the game it was bedlam. I have never been in a hockey game so loud in my life, the building was shaking.
