Did check the course earlier this week and it looks great. Lots of cleanup was done these past few weeks and the course is ready to go.

I've got three rounds booked now. (Friends booked them and I get to tag along). I mean tomorrow is Heather Glen...which is horrible in my opinion, but it's better than not playing!

Most places policy are you can only share a cart if you drove to the course together or live together. I imagine they will limit carts to 2/foursome.

The Nanton Golf Club has decided to open the golf courses in stages:
Stage 1: Golf Course - Back 9 Only, Monday May 4th – Thursday May 7th
§ Tee times will be in 15 minute intervals
§ A starter will be present on the 10th tee to manage tee times
§ Groups playing their 2nd nine will be alternated in between tee times.
§ All golfers must have a tee time, no walk-up play will be allowed
§ Golfers are not allowed to congregate in groups. Please do not show up any more than 15 minutes in advance of your tee time.
§ Golfers must pre-pay ahead of time for their round, either online or by phoning the Golf Course.
§ We will not be pairing up golfers
§ Check-in will be in the clubhouse, and capacity will be limited to allow for social distancing. There may be some waiting required.
Stage 2: Golf Course: 18 holes Open, Friday May 9th
§ Tee times will be in 10 minute intervals
§ All golfers must have a tee time, no walk-up play will be allowed
§ Golfers are not allowed to congregate in groups. Please do not show up any more than 15 minutes in advance of your tee time.
§ Check-in will be in the clubhouse, and capacity will be limited to allow for social distancing. There may be some waiting required.
Washrooms. On course washrooms at holes # 5 and #14 will be open, as will the outside washrooms at the course entrance. Clubhouse washrooms will be closed.
Power Carts will be allowed. We will be renting power carts to members and guests. Power carts will be available for single riders, as we will not be allowing anyone to share a cart unless they are someone you live with. As we have a limited amount of carts we would like to encourage walking so that carts are available for those who can’t play without them.

Courses seem to be split as to whether ranges are open. Some are, some are not. But I have not seen whether stand alone ranges are allowed to open or where they might fall in the various stages of the Provincial plan for reopening.

I thought it was weird the ranges couldn't be open before. There's virtually no congregation taking place and people need to be distanced there. It seemed incredibly low risk.

Del : You play with your balls a lot.
Neal : I do NOT play with my balls.
Del : Larry Bird doesn't do as much ball-handling in one night as you do in an hour!

Depending on the set up of the range and how balls are purchased, there is possible touching of the vending machine that sells the balls, baskets, handles, balls, tees, mats, club to surface. I'm likely missing some. Sweat dripping? There are tons of places that you could touch that the next person could touch and receive the virus. If you are teeing up the ball, you are touching it every single time.
My course opened the range. You still can't leave your car until 10 minutes before your tee time, so the amount of time you're getting out there is 6-7 minutes. There are only four people at a time and they are likely spaced out. I haven't been there, so I only know from what emails have been sent out. The balls are all placed in the trough by the employees, so the normal way of taking balls out of the chest and dumping them in the trough is removed. I assume we are on mats because the ground is still soft.
We still are not allowing the use of club owned push carts or motorized carts. You are allowed to use your own push cart if you bring it and take it with you.

Greens at River's Edge are as good as I've seen them. Rest of the course not so much. Lots of ice damage in the fairways and very, very wet.
All in all was nice to get out and golf today. Walked 18 in just under 4 hours.

I forgot about the touching (regarding the ranges above) and I guess that's probably sensible. Sometimes I think I just slip back into "pre-Covid" behaviour without even thinking about it!
I did play a round yesterday and it was great. The greens were in good shape and overall it seemed really well run and there was zero contact. From what I saw, everyone was respecting the distancing and seemed to be careful to to touch things or cause issues that way. Pace of play was also good, which I was a little bit surprised about.

Played first round today, things are a bit weird.
Sure like the 1 cart per person thing though

Have rounds booked for Monday through Friday. Will be interesting to see how the set up goes for my course and the social distancing.

I played Heather Glen yesterday and Blue Devil today. It was busy but things are moving really well in general. As most golfers would guess, social distancing is not an issue at all. You have tons of room and people seem conscious of the measures and of course no one wants to be the guy that screws this ip for everyone else!
The courses are in good shape for this point in the year. Some rain will be good to green things up, but overall they’re reasonable for the late snow we’ve had and a bit of a later spring in general.
Not much for food/beverage options at this point, so you might want to plan ahead on that front.
