Regehr feels like the choice given his games played (tenure), being part of the 2004 etc. But Lindholm is a top line winger on a contract that should get his games close to Regehr.
So a nod to Lindholm but I have to go Regehr and the tunnel of death. The Hemsky capers put him over the top!

for me I think (even though with the passage of time the 'defensive defenceman' has become perhaps overrated as a player type) its fairly clearly Regehr. Tenure is through the roof, and a big part of the 04 team
now Lindholm may well be the better player, and this may be increasingly clear with time but he's been here for 2 years only so far (and besides I need him from my '2nd number' team, )
Poor Ranheim, this is his rightful number but a clear 3rd. For anyone who hasn't marvelled at the Flames 84 draft lately- go do so now
Location: Wondering when # became hashtag and not a number sign.

This is as easy a selection as we have had IMO...may change in a few years if Zebulon continues on his trajectory, but the tunnel of death wins for now and in a landslide.

This was one of the easier votes for me, even though there are some high end candidates.
Regehr #1. No doubt in my mind. Not much offense, but an absolute beast in his own zone. One of the best defensive defensemen this team has ever had (right behind McCrimmon and Gio). Tons of tenure and leadership to go along with his performance.
Ranheim is #2 for now. Played a long time in Calgary and put up strong secondary scorer numbers. Pretty good defensively too. Just not a true star.
Elias Lindholm will eventually take over the #2 spot and maybe challenge Regehr one day if he plays here long enough. Great two-way player with a very good ability of finishing plays and making others better around him.

Oddly, and this shows my age, Charlie Bourgeois is the player that first pops into my mind when I think #28.
When I was a kid playing hockey my dad, who didn't say a whole lot about games, or hockey ... not positive, not really negative ... tried to be nice one day on the way home.
"Have to say ... you have the brains of Gretzky, the heart of Risebrough ... but the feet of Bourgeois"
Some clear reach on the first two, but he had the third one spot on!

Top 2 represent two of the best trades in franchise history.
Regehr is probably underappreciated overall. Lindholm the same.
I voted Regehr, but it will be closer next pandemic.

Regehr gets the vote from me, but I wouldn’t be surprised if this is done a few years down the road and Lindholm keeps up his play, that Regehr is dethroned.

Regehr will win but to me without Lindholm we arent close to a playoff bound club. He is the best 28, dont care about his time here or how long he has to play for the Flames to considered the best. The man has more talent in his pinky then most players on the Flames right now.
