meanwhile we are trending to a tie again here, with a guy with 5 games in the jersey holding on to a slight lead!

Ranheim getting votes here is like Iginla getting votes for 24. Makes no sense.

Robert Reichel scored 40 goals as a Flame twice and had two seasons of 88 and 93 points respectively. There simply isn't another player here who can compete with his contributions regardless of how people feel about the 1st round exits the Flames teams he played on experienced.

Can confirm.

Found the summary.

Flames has won the night before in Calgary, this was the rematch in rexall.

1st goal of the game...and came after a massive line brawl 28 seconds into the game. Also Lanny scrapped Paul Coffey this night.

A barn burner.

Reichel almost scored against Kirk Maclean in 1994. Game 7 OT. Got called back. And then Pavel Bure ended up scoring the GWG.

If we won that game, I think we can beat the Rangers in the SCFs

Voting for a guy bought out as the best to ever wear the number, complaining about a guy who was actually good enough to play for the organization in multiple numbers getting some votes.

You should frame these two posts, put them up in your office.

Flash, Ranheim wore 26 for five games. He's a 28, not a 26. 26 is not his number at all. It's like saying Dave Rittich is the best #40 in Flames history because he wore it to development camp and was good enough to get the opportunity to switch to 33.

I voted for Stone because he's the best 26 I've seen. Reichel was probably a better player but I've heard enough about his supposed deficiencies that I'm not comfortable voting for him sight unseen.

But voting for Ranheim for 26 makes less than zero sense. Stone has played here four years in that number. Ranheim barely wore it for a week as a rookie.

If Paul Ranheim had 1 game at 26 he would still be a better place to put a vote than Stone.

Reichel is obviously the most talented but I have bad memories of him from his choking to his contract hold out. Might spoil my ballot.

Yup, he could’ve been a Flames hero, as he had Game 7 OT chances against Vancouver in 1994 which he made McLean look like a hero, and I think two crossbars against SJ Game 7 1995, one I think late in the third and the better chance in OT. I want to say he had chances in Game 7 vs the Oilers in 1991 as well.

Then he held out the next year after the SJ loss.
And his shootout goal sunk Canada in 1998.

Good riddance. Useless without the puck, scared come playoff time.

I’ll vote Nilson. Inches away from Flames legend, Game 6 OT winner for the Cup after tying the game it late in the second period. When this didn’t go in, and I was right on the goal line, after Khabibulin looked back, it was clear not meant to be.
(11:40 mark)

Game 1 Detroit OT winner and big early game goals against SJ. Integral with Iginla on the “Shift”, in Game 5 Tampa, watch thier chemistry. In fact, Iginla said it was one of the most skilled guys he’s played with.

Good enough for me.

He was Awesome but that shot on McLean hurt his Flames history. He was such a good sniper. Don’t forget when Canada lost to the Czechs in the shootout he was the only on to score on Roy. I just wish that shot was taken on the Canucks and not Canada. Still he was very very good!

Wasn’t there another moment when Nilson hit the crossbar in OT in game 6?

No, Nieminen hit the crossbar in OT game 6 vs Vancouver though.

Didn’t the goal light go off and they had to review it?

You are simply not giving Ales Kotalik the respect he and his, admittedly rarely used, Goal Song deserves!
