A post in the weather thread just reminded me about a project I'm debating. When you epoxy a garage floor, can you also ever so slightly change the grade? I just want it to drain a little better in the winter (it's heated). I'm kind of thinking that if I could just slightly slope it and have a little lip around the door, it would be perfect.
And if you can do this...is it pretty easy or should I just call someone?

Yes you could definitely do that with concrete leveler. You would build it up in layers feathering it into the existing floor and adding slope that way. But it's really tricky. Leveler, counter to its name, doesn't automatically fill in the lowest spots. You can maneuver it into place and add to one side and slope to the other. But it's not really something you want to try without experience. I would imagine an epoxy flooring company would do it. They add a layer of leveler or embosser to make a perfect substrate anyway.

I need to get a decent shed this year was thinking of getting something like what Costco sells and always has out on display during summer months.
What is the best kind of shed base? Anyone have any experience of opinions on that? Has anyone built there own? Should you use the square concrete paving blocks? Poured cement?

If you pour cement I believe you need a permit. Probably easier to use cement blocks.

I'm not sure if you do, this page is fairly unclear regarding sheds, but you don't need one for a parking pad:
Quote:
Although a building permit is not required for a parking pad, if you plan on pouring a parking pad for the purpose of building a garage in the future you should consider the location after reviewing the previously rules of the Land Use Bylaw listed listed under location and design.

I'm considering my options on this as well, let me know what you find.

Got this one a couple years back. Sale price + their $200 off over $1000 and I got it for just over 1K delivered.
Nice weekend project to build. You will need to build a base (2x4s and 3/4 plywood) and get shingles.
It's a 12x8 so quite roomy. Run power to it and you have a little work shop.
Paint it to match the house, add shelving, add a window etc. all easy to do as its wood frame. Not so much with the vinyl ones.

Home Depot is closed for the night but does anyone know if their tool rental department is still operating during the Corona virus? I need to do some yard work in May, assuming we are done with winter, and need to rent a did roller.

I believe so, yes. I was at the Macleod one yesterday and there was a sign at the store entrance that tool rentals were through the other entrance more to the south of the building.

HD Rentals still open, for sure. No longer enter through the store, use their exterior door.

My mother has a problem with this too. Any idea of a ballpark cost to get a two-car garage sloped? We talking new driveway kind of dough?

I am thinking about putting up some wall paper for a feature wall, as well as in a half bath. Does anyone have some general advice? Is the removable stuff really any better then the glued stuff? Is it more of a pain than painting?

I would say likely yes. The material is going to probably be about $500. I would think a contractor would charge a fairly good premium for the job since there's some risk in winding up on the wrong end of a cretemower if you don't do this kind of thing regularly. I think your best bet might be an existing garage flooring epoxy company for a quote. They have likely done it before and could quote based on square footage.

Any recommendations for what paint brand to use or skip for painting a garage?
Doesn't need to be perfect but want something with decent durability and coverage.

Does anybody know off hand what, if any the limitations are on privacy screens in your backyard? I'd like to cozy it up a tad.
On one side of the deck it would be right up against the fence/property line. On the other side of the deck it would be about 4ft from the property line.
On a very quick search all I could find was that your "fence" can be up to 6'6.

My old neighbour went with this:
https://shop.burncolandscape.com/pro...best-3887.html
I thought it looked great. It had a lot more brown in it which looked more natural for Alberta. I personally think some people just pick as green as you can get and it looks out of place and astro-turf like.

You can build a "privacy wall" attached to the deck up to 2 m height as measured from the top of the deck. If you build it at grade it is considered a fence, and can be up to 2 m as measured from grade.
