Default Hockey podcasts

I've started listening to the Mike Keenan podcast with Scott Morrison. Really enjoying it, the episodes aren't super long and they're easy to listen to.

Anyone else have any hockey podcast recommendations?

Spittin’ Chiclets and 31 Thoughts are the ones I listen too. Sometimes I’ll listen to Boomer & Warrener or Hockey Central at noon if I want more specific Flames content.

31 Thoughts is pretty good, though Marek sometimes gets on my nerves. Not everything needs to be a philosophical discussion, and he sometimes takes himself a little too seriously. It is a part of his charm, though.

I also really like Puck Soup with Greg Wyshynski, Ryan Lambert, and Down Goes Brown. It's a mix of pop culture and hockey, and Lambert plays the part of curmudgeon pretty well while also being articulate and entertaining. Also Wysh's ESPN pod with Emily Kaplan (ESPN On Ice) is pretty good from an "around the league" perspective. Their "Phil Kessel Loves Hotdogs" segment is great.

Generally, I find hockey podcasts to be pretty brutal to listen to since most of the guests are pretty bland/boring hockey people. I also find Spittin' Chicklets to be unlistenable, but that is definitely a personal preference.

Also shout out to the Jay & Dan Podcast (not hockey specific, but they cover it enough). I find them hilarious, and it's interesting to get a peek at their actual thoughts & feelings (and occasional insight & analysis) about the sports & athletes they cover on SC, even though Jay is an admitted Oilers fan.

31 Thoughts
Pucksoup
Steve Dangle Podcast
PDOcast
Spittin Chiclet

In order of which I listen to most to least. They all have their ups and downs. Some I'll listen to more seriously than others compared to just being in the background of stuff.

31 thoughts is listenable IMO. I can barely handle Friedman in his weekly radio hits. And Marek is just brutal.

Hockey needs a good quality podcast - by fans or non-media members - that is similar to spitting Chiclets, a comedy type podcast. Similar to Pardon my Take which is essentially all sports but hockey. Hockey media members are just so bad to listen to IMO.

I really like Spittin Chicklets. I get that it's not everyone's thing, but it really grew on me

I'm indifferent on Biz, but I love Ryan Whitney. I didn't expect that when I started listening

31 Thoughts is decent, and I sometimes listen to the Fan 960 Morning show as a podcast. I miss Warrener, I'm not sure what other people think of the show but I liked Boomer, Warrener and Klein together

I like The Hockey Guy on YouTube.
Covers the Flames quite a bit, despite being a Canucks fan.

This is your only post in the thread, I don't see a podcast posted. Am I missing something?

This is a really good interview. Some interesting stories about early days of the Flames move to Calgary and the Battle of Alberta.
He started his own podcast thread that no one responded to.

Spittin Chiclets the only one I really listen too. I can get insider Info and analysis just by reading CP, from a podcast I don't want that, I want entertainment and fun stories

Anyway, the eyebrow-raising bombshell was Coates coming very close to signing Kevin Lowe as a free agent.

The Larschcast. A group of a few Canucks fans who never critique the team and talk about how Benning is building a cup contender and how he never does anything wrong.
