I mean even if she is foretelling your demise at least you know she will continue being creative even after you have left this plain of existence.

Still playing with paint. I was looking at an old hockey book and decided to paint Terry Sawchuk. One of these weeks I'll try sculpting an old-school goalie mask:

I would encourage you to at the very least keep some of her artwork and if possible, frame some of it. You never know what memories the artwork will invoke later on in life.

My husband died seven years ago...but while he was alive, he drew a lot with our grandson...who was only 2 or 3 at the time and was mainly interested in vehicles...specifically the wheels, axles, lights, and exhaust pipes.

Anyhow, I had my grandson for a visit (after my husband had passed) and he wanted to paint and draw. I got out the art supplies and out dropped a picture of a big gravel truck with all the bells and whistles.

While my grandson was too young to remember these times with his Grandpa, that drawing brought back many precious memories for me so I framed that picture for my grandson and it now hangs on his bedroom wall.

We have all kinds of her and her sister's art all over the house - kitchen cupboards, walls, shelves and about three strained-to-capacity folders each. The two of them very seriously cannot stop creating, so it sometimes becomes a struggle to decide what stays and what has to go (I always find it hard to throw out anything that they made). But there will always be their work on display. It's also fun to see how their work is always evolving and what's influential.

My aunt had planned on restoring this old hutch of my grandma's, but ended up moving to Kelowna and didn't want to take it with her. You can see the big progress she made on sanding one drawer front...She asked if I wanted it, otherwise it was going to sadly end up at the dump. Well, since I needed a first real project to do in my nice spacious heated garage...

I think it came out quite nice! I think there must be some history to the centre doors and drawer being a different wood type. Perhaps it was open at one point. I like the lighter shade, it shows some interesting wood grain. I wanted to match some of my other furniture, which the skirt and trim does. And the last shot is for Surferguy, who I know will cringe at me using wood filler, but I just didn't feel like going through the effort of veneer repair. It's not really noticeable unless you are looking for it.

With the groceries stockpiled and the snow building up, it was time to go back to the basement. Fresh from the Terry Sawchuk painting I decided to give Gerry Cheevers a try. I think it's forward progress:

I'm not wasting my isolation time - got this guy sculpted and painted over a few days! He's some kind of pirate figure (I'm calling him Chromedome the Pirate), and he's made of wire, foil and clay. His base is the traditional styrofoam and celluclay, with stir-sticks and lots of white glue and sand added for texture. He just needs a blast of lacquer to set everything.

That's some damn fine work, Fuzz! The end product is beautiful. I'd love to do this one day myself. Furniture restoration is something I could sink hours into I think.

I'm curious how you sanded or prepped the really textured area right below the top of hutch?

Ha, ya, I was curious how I would do that, too! I used stain stripper, a brass brush and a lot of paper towels. I didn't really sand it at all.

Oh thank God. I don't mind sanding but I absolutely hate tons of sanding tiny details.
