			double post
I liked Cammalleri and Smith so I put them on my team but Conroy and Lemelin probably take their places on merit.

He was the MVP of the team in 2017-18 and was the playoff hero in 2019. I'm taking him on my team.

Made some changes to your lineup. You need a shutdown line so I did some replacement of the 4th. Otto was one of the Flames best 2 way centers along with Patterson on wing. Hunter adds the toughness we need.

On defence I switched out Hamilton for Paul Reinhart.

As a goalie extra I put in Pat Riggin
Roberts - Nieuwendyk - Iginla
Mullen - Gilmour - Loob
Fleury - Chouinard - McDonald
Patterson - Otto - Hunter
Extras: Tkachuk, Monahan, Gaudreau

Suter - MacInnis
Giordano - Brodie
Regehr - McCrimmon
Extras: Macoun, Reinhart

Kiprusoff
Vernon
Extra: Riggin

If it comes to picking Mike Smith as #3 I'm going with 2 Goalies.

First Ballot all time Flames (regular) : Need 4 players to fill offense (bolded) :
Need 2 players to fill defense (bolded) :

Gary Roberts - Kent Nilsson - Jarome Iginla
Joe Mullen - Joe Neiuwendyk - Sergei Makarov
Hakan Loob - Doug Gilmour - Theoren Fleury
Johnny Gaudreau - Guy Chouinard - Lanny McDonald

 Gary Suter - Al MacInnis
 Mark Giordano - Phil Housley
 Brad McCrimmon - Jamie Macoun

 Mikka Kiprusoff
 Mike Vernon

There are probably better all star teams that can be put together. The Habs would be impressive. But in terms of a team that can grind out 16 wins in a playoff year, against pretty much anyone, this team has a prefect combination of grit/talent/drive to win.

It's kind of telling that the 1989 team is so well represented, and there are only two current Flames. IMO the 1989 squad was one of the best ever built, though.

I like your lineup with the exception of the Reinhart and Regehr omissions. It's crazy how many great defensemen have played for the Flames that were meaningful contributors while on the team.

Honorable mentions on forward to Otto and Conroy for both being Selke finalists multiple times

Too many on this board are too young to have seen Otto play. He was a good one, contributed so much. So strong on the puck, consistent, showed up in big games, and was rarely injured.

Can you have a hero in a year where you win one playoff game?

Lemelin, Riggin, Brathwaite, Bouchard, Ramo all come before Smith IMO.

Now that's a team what wins multiple cups. Like 7 or 8 in a row

Yeah, I loved Otto when I was a kid. He should absolutely be in there as an alternate/in place of Chouinard. The defense is is tough one. Housley was the only reason to watch a lot of the games he played in, and if he played during the current era he would be a monster. The same goes for Markov and Zubov on other teams, they just played in the wrong era, but were still really good. I struggled a bit with the bottom 3 defense, as they are all about the same level.

Interesting with Nilsson. If you were to rate the players historically with the most skill (this has been mentioned in numerous articles by players) a lot of mention is made of Gretzky, Lemieux, Kovalev and Nilsson. The seperation between the four was desire to win, and overall 'give a ####'. That's something that doesn't show up in any on ice metric, but is so important.
