As simple as the title states, what old NHL games have you guys been watching during the pause?
What streaming service did you use to watch it?
Who was playing?
Game notes.
Today I used NHL.TV to watch the Calgary Flames and Arizona Coyotes November 5th, 2019 game.
Spoiler!
Pre-Game Notes
- Lucic had just been given a 2 game suspension for sucker-punching a Columbus Player
- Gaudreau going into the game had a 12 game goal drought
- Rittich was leading the NHL in games played and had the highest Save % of any goaltender
Game Notes
- Rittich playing very solid made some key saves even with the Flames defense playing very spotty.
- Johnny Hockey finally scores!!! You could tell once he scored the 1st line was playing confident and provided a boost to the rest of the team.
- Dvorak for the Yotes was a man possed. 1 goal and 1 assist and make Hamonic and Gio look like fools on multiple chances.
- Rannta making a bunch of big saves to stop the Flames
- Flames down 3-1 in the final 4 minutes, but not getting discouraged.
- PP goes 2/6
- Flames score 2 times in 49 seconds to tie the game in the 3rd period controlling the last 3 minutes entirely in Arizona's zone.
- Tkachuk gets the OT winner and completes a dominant game.
Overall the game picked up in pace once the 1st Line and PP got moving.
Feel free to share what games you guys are watching and want to watch! I would love to watch some older games too (pre 2010 and even into the 80's if possible).
My list for games to watch is growing, and on the docket I have:
- Kippers last game vs Anaheim in 2013
- Flames vs Sharks Game 3 2008
- Flames vs LA in 2015 to Clinch a Playoff Spot
Cheers CP! I hope everyone is staying safe and well!
As per an email from the NHL all 19-20 games are available for free replay through the NHL scores and schedules on NHL.com and the app. I might start back in October and rewatch the season.

Been down the rabbit-hole on youtube a lot over the past few days. I am a huge fan of the 92-93 season, and have been able to find various season recap videos, highlights, fights, etc. Even tho the Flames choked in the playoffs that year, I still hold that season high for multiple reasons.

A few buddies and I have been hanging out (virtually) and watching old games at the same time. So far, we’ve done:
- 2004 Finals, Game 5
- 2001 Finals, Game 7
Both super fun to run through again. I think we’re gonna scope some of the 2012 Pens/Flyers series next. We need all the goals.
If you're watching old playoff series and want a recommendation, the 2010 Philly vs. Boston reverse sweep was an incredible series and capped off with a comeback in the Game 7 too!

i've been catching a bunch of the 'classic' nhl games on sportsnet. i love how basically "anything goes" back then.
even better is getting to hear dan kelly, dick irvin, bob cole & harry neale. the best of the best when it comes to calling hockey - just brings back so many memories of watching games on saturday night as a kid!

Thanks! Philly is my East team and I’m surprised I didn’t consider that series. Brian Boucher is still my fav Flyers goalie.
I think one of my memorable moments was in 2015(?) when the Flames clinched a playoff spot at home late in the season vs LA. I was in a casino in Vegas watching. I recall Treliving on the bench at the end of the game congratulating each of the players as they left the ice.
Would like to see that game again.

Follow that up with the 2011 Philly vs. Boston series. It makes for a thrilling sequel as it was powerful revenge sweep.
