Can't go into next season with Hanifin and Andersson as the top pairing IMO. Not if you want to contend for a Cup.

That'd a pretty good one. Hope he's not quite as injury-prone. Dekeyser is basically anything you might want in a #4.

Barring something really insane happening, Mark Giordano will likely retire as a Flame.

To me, this goes to show how impactful Gio is for the Flames off the ice as well. A chance to play with and learn from the Norris trophy winner, who also happened to be an undrafted UFA signing the Flames believed in, helped lure two important, free assets for the Flames. This is super exciting.
I can't wait to see how these guys look post-apocalypse next year (if we're not eating bark and squirrelmeat by then).

I remember when Gio moved into 2nd place all time for GP by a Flame for the Flames and remember him saying how it was the one record he wanted and his goal is to surpass Iggy. I believed him then and believe that he will try to achieve it which means we basically have a Joe Thornton or Zedno Chara in Gio in terms of loyalty to go along with elite skill and can look forward to some good value contracts in the years to come.

Here is a good survival tip:

The leftover toilet paper cardboard inserts makes an adequate replacement for logs and adds a hint of flavour to the squirrel meat.

Some thoughts from his college coach at Minnesota St.
	https://calgarysun.com/sports/hockey...-bright-futureQuote:

		| “Talking to guys at that level, it’s always, ‘We need guys to defend, we need guys to be able to get us out of our end, and then we need somebody to continue to be a distributor, as far as being able to move it, getting the puck to the net or finding people in the offensive zone,’ ” Hastings said. “The proverbial term right now is the 200-foot player. Everybody is looking for him, on both ends of the rink. And I do … I see that in Connor, as far as his size, his decision-making, his skating.
“And the thing that I really think is going to allow him to succeed is his mentality. What I mean by that is whether it goes well or it doesn’t, I don’t think that is going to change his demeanour or outlook on what he has to do every day. He is just going to go to work. If he succeeds early, great. But if there are some walls that are put up in front of him that he has to climb, I think he has a mentality that that’s what he has to do. I don’t think he has ever asked for anything to be guaranteed to him. He didn’t from Day 1 here. He has always been willing to go and do whatever work he needs to do.”

Love the size of Mackey but the Flames have too many LHD in the system. Need to get some decent RHD. It's really weird that most people in the world are right-handed but most of the NHL players are left hand shot.

Free lottery ticket.

Most won't turn into anything but it costs zero assets other than the contract.

Garnet Hathaway was a nice find, Luke Philp still shows a lot of promise too.
I've heard from a family member that played in the WHL against him that he thinks Philp will be a player in the NHL.

Most won't become NHLers but Tyler Bozak, Danny DeKeyser, Torey Krug, Brandon and Chris Tanev, etc. prove it's worth the pursuit.

Not to mention like 15% of the Cup team in '89. Different circumstances, sure, but still.

Yep, worst case scenario is depth for Stockton. Zero risk, I hope the Flames keep signing these college guys, one day they could hit a homer.
