Default Sportsnet’s Classic Hockey.

Anyone else getting annoyed that all of Sportsnet’s Classic hockey games being shown while we don’t have live hockey seem to be either Oiler games or have some kind of Oiler slant. Pisses me right off. The Flames have been in the playoffs more times than the Oilers in the last 20 years but they always seem to find some Oiler game. If they must show Oiler games, might I suggest 1986 Game 7 Smythe division final!!

Yesterday they played two Flames games. 89 cup winning game and the game where Gio got his first two goals.

I've got the yearly Sportsnet subscription and got an email saying they've added a month to my subscription, and will continue to assess on a monthly basis as to how to proceed.

I would imagine until hockey returns, they will be adding a month at a time to my subscription.

mine is was month to month through shaw and part of my cable package, so I decided it wasn't worth the cost for what I'm getting currently.
No offers from Shaw, Sportsnet, or TSN.

That game where Gio scored two goals had absolutely nothing to do with anything positive about the Flames, it was about the Leafs and Sundin getting 500 goals.

Describing that game as the game Gio scored his first two goals would be like a Canucks fan describing Round 1 Game 7 in 2004 as "That game where Matt Cooke tied it with seconds left"

Not even close. Turn down the hyperbole spewing from your Leaf/Toronto hate.

It wasn’t a playoff game.

I remember it firstly as Gio getting his 1st two goals & secondly as Cassie Campbell’s first game doing colour commentary (if I’m correct).

They didn't broadcast the "game that Giordano scored his first goal in." They broadcasted the "Sundin's 500th goal" game and Gio just happened to score his first goal in it.

You are correct. The reason it happened was because Harry Neale couldn't make it out of Buffalo due to a snowstorm.

So, how is a regular season game with a guy scoring his 500 goal in anyways comparable to overtime game 7? The false equivalency falls flat on its face.

So you think that Sportsnet just actually stumbled upon this game and said something like:

“Hey let’s throw on Sundin’s 500th goal game.”

Then the game starts playing and they’re like...

“Oh wow Giordano scores his first two goals in this game.”

“Oh & hey! Cassie Campbell made her debut as the first female color commentator, wow... we lucked out picking the Sundin game.”

It was a game that had numerous milestones.

The hatred for Toronto astounds me in how it clouds basic judgement.

Replaying a game the Flames lose in overtime where Sundin scores 3, including his 500th and game winner, and marketing it as a Flames classic does sound like something Sportsnet would do.
par for the course.
