Oh and G. Love's new album just came out a few days ago. Pretty different from most of his stuff, more bluesy.

Yeah, I've been listening to both the Machine Head and Type O for a couple days already.

The MH album is suprising, very f'ing good. Impressive amount of riffs on that ablum and the guitars sound amazing.

Type O, brilliant as expected.

Well the new Modest Mouse single Dashboard is out. Nothing earth shattering in my opinion, but my taste in music sucks. Too bad about Arcade Fire. I haven't heard any of their new stuff, but I did enjoy some of the stuff off the last album.

I'll be interested to see what Dexy's Midnight runners sound like and if they can recapture the magic they had in 1982. How old would those guys be now, like 50?

I'm looking forward to the new Bloc Party, Modest Mouse and Interpol. I can't say I think too much of the first modest mouse single though.

I'm not convinced Radiohead will put out anything this year. In fact I really doubt it. Probably 2008 IMO.

A few people seem hyped on Islands. Never heard them, what are they like?

I think the new Modest Mouse song Dashboard is fantastic. Check it out here:

 http://www.modestmousemusic.com/

Modest Mouse: "Dashboard"
> The cleanest, slickest, biggest sounding, most upbeat thing the band has ever released.
- Cokemachineglow

The first single from the new Johnny Marr-enhanced Modest Mouse is so radio-ready, you can almost hear the future Kidz Bop version echoing in the background, a children's chorus taking the place of the disco strings that swell behind Isaac Brock. "Dashboard"'s slinking string lines provide the song's most surprising touch-- though they echo Brock's melody, their fluidity sounds alien in Modest Mouse's world of clanking guitars and metronomic drumming.
- Pitchfork

Did you know Johnny Marr of the Smiths is now a full-fledged member of Modest Mouse?

 http://www.stereogum.com/archives/003020.html

According to Brock, Marr’s membership is so unequivocal, he will tour with MM in support of their next record, tentatively titled We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank and tentatively due this fall. “He made a cautious commitment to write and record with us, and then the tighter we got, he was like, ‘okay, let’s tour too,’” Brock said. “Then he was pretty much a member of the band - not pretty much. He’s a full blown member of the band. It’s really fata’n nice.”

I'm interested to see what comes out, but I don't hold out too much hope. Kevin Rowland has had mental health issues IIRC. Dexy's were under-rated IMO, and not just a one-hit wonder.

I'm not a big fan of the new single. Hopefully Johnny Marr helps out their live show...easily the most disappointing show I've ever seen was Modest Mouse..not sure if it was just an off night or something, but they were terrible. I used to be a big fan until then.

I sent you a PM! Was gonna give you the hookup.

Type O albums take a while to digest, looking forward to soaking it in. It is a lot more noisy and less atmospheric though.

2007 has started off really strong in my view. The new Of Montreal is absolutely amazing and Andrew Bird's new album is solid as well. Add in a solid release by Explosions in the Sky along with the million albums that are yet to come out and this could be a damn good year for music.

Also I'll throw two more names into the TBA pile: Matthew Good, Hawksley Workman

Don't mind the new shins, interesting arrangements at least, the new bloc party after a couple of spins is a big letdown. The new arcade fire had better be good.

One CD I've been looking forward to for quite sometime now set to debut this year is the new one by Thornley. Their first record, Come Again was awesome, and as far as I've heard, Ian Thornley and the boys will be going back to a more Big Wreck-ish sound for this one. Got me excited, that's for sure.

If only they would stop putting off the release date. First it was September of 06, then December, then January, then this month, and now I hear it's May. Christ.
