Fair enough. But you are changing the game! Just a moment ago, we were talking about WHO gets to decide what YOU need. Now, you want to dive into HOW to do it better.

Taxation determination is a very interesting topic and I wouldn't mind discussing it. Perhaps, not in a Sanders vs. Biden thread though?

I feel like a billion dollars is pretty safe upper limit on the sense that it's so ridiculously high that there's really no danger to anyone.

Like, sure, you can for example own stocks that are worth a lot but can't actually turn them into usable funds for reasons. What ever. At one billion dollars no one is going to be living in poverty.or even mild discomfort that could be made better with more money.

I also don't think anyone, the government or anyone else, can be trusted to be particularly smart.

Which is a point for limiting personal wealth. Money is power, especially when we're talking billions.

No single person should have that much financial power. Ten people owning a billion dollars is better than one person with ten billion.

The argument for a wealth cap on individuals sounds good in principle, but how would it actually be implemented and enforced? I think it would mostly result in billionaires hiding more of their money in the Cayman Islands, etc, to avoid having to declare how wealthy they truly are. Also, what would you do about corporations which stash massive amounts of cash and keep it on hand?

It just seems like there would be all kinds of ways for the ultra wealthy to get around the law.

You know I don't need the filthy rich to pay 94%, I'd be happy if they just paid the same percentage as me, as it is most of the selfish scum pay nothing.

I have no appetite for this debate right now. Biden is doing a good job of making me wish he was president right now, I guess. I don't know why Bernie is keeping up with this.

Biden keeps saying "we" like he is the current president.

Biden is doing a good job of appearing coherent and capable.

Just my little opinion, but I’ve had enough of angry Bernie.

I think Biden did well tonight, and I can't see anyone thinking this was a knock out blow by Bernie, which would be the only slim chance he had. Bernie needs to drop out by tomorrow. Making people vote Tuesday when it's >99% Biden's is not right and only Bernie can really stop that.

Is there any truth to rumours about Biden trying to get Michele Obama to be his running mate? I didn't think it was even possible at this point. It would have to be one of the registered candidates (e.g. Klobuchar or Warren), no?

It is very often not a presidential candidate.

Pence, Kaine, Ryan most recently

And who can forget Sarah Palin.

I'd be pretty shocked if it was Michelle Obama though.

Just from the hour or so that I caught, I felt like this debate was yet another disservice to democracy. The bias is far too obvious. They really need to just let Biden's victory come on it's own accord, without conducting the debate in a way that seems partial to one candidate and alienates supporters of the other candidate.
