Where is all the money raised going to? I think they should use it for the Calgary Food Bank and for people who are in quarantine and can't go out to pick up essentials.

If you click the link in the OP, he’s at the bottom of the release. Not sure if he’s on the email to staff.

I would imagine the highest levels were involved in the reaction.

Question really is who was involved in the initial decision.

The gofundme has been updated to say it will go to the Calgary Flames Foundation. While a noble cause, it just means the Flames can get a nice tax break when they use it (I think).

Ok that's actually really ####ty. Reward them in the end?

Also lol at people instantly willing to forgive a corporation who literally had to be publicly shamed into doing something decent. Some familiar faces.

I mean, the foundation is set completely separate to the business operations and a registered not for profit entity. There is no tax break and hardly a reward.

The flames behave badly because their market is captured.

His banning was certainly not a decision made by me or any other single moderator alone

Nor would lifting or not lifting it be up to a single moderator

But appreciate the shot. Awesome

You have a hard time letting things go, I see. I thought you were done with this organization? So why do you care where the money goes.

Again everyone can make their own decision and form their own opinion
Not going to judge anyone either way

Didn't seem so separate when they were pimping it for arena tax dollars.

The GoFundMe starter clearly has good intentions, but this is essentially a bait and switch and now a ton of people have essentially donated to the people who caused this.

No tax break but they get most of the goodwill when they dole the funds out even though it is mainly from 50/50 donations from, you guessed it, the fans.

My problem is the CESC was shamed into this and they are going to have a tough job of convincing the public that this was just an oversight on their part. They had the money to do the right thing but chose not to. This smacks of corporate greed.

I don’t think it should go to the Flames Foundation. That has a different intent
It should somehow be for an emergency assistance plan for employees hit hard by this. Or something like that.
Needs to align to the original objective

Donating the money to the flames foundation is like one or two steps away from that time that guy grifted this board for a bunch of money down in Florida.

Every donation should be given back. If people want to donate to charity they are free to do so.

I think the GoFundMe should still go to the employees, that is what people donated for. They work their butts off for peanuts, if they end up coming out ahead that is great.
