World has to coordinate a full on quarantine. Don't know how they can do it, don't know if it's possible, but it's only way I can see this thing being halted quickly. Who knows, maybe Influenza can be knocked off the block too. Two birds, one stone.

At least a few WHL teams canceled work outs today and sent players home to billets. I imagine the WHL season will be paused or canceled shortly.

I don't see how that's possible. I live in Mexico and the president just said on national tv that coronavirus is nothing and people should keep on hugging because it's important. He's an idiot and many people know it but there has been no preventative measures taken here yet.

WTF?

OK, maybe it's not travelers from Europe that need to be turned away.

Halting is likely impossible. Flattening the curve of infections is the only way. It’s out, it’s coming, we just need make sure we have health care capacity to manage it the next few years.

Yeah it's extremely worrisome. The country is backwards as it is and to have a senile president on top, it's a scary situation.

Can we have a moment of silence for the weather girl PGT, or as my buddies in our whatsapp group call it “Puntas” when I shamelessly copy/paste from Zamler?

It can be possible if the proper and the strictest measures are applied. The only issue that prevented continental isolation was because of money. A lot of good that does when everyone gets sick in a short period of time and when people start dying.

when the fast spreading virus started to go outside of China, inbound flights and ships should have stopped or anyone landing in the north and south America continents should have been strictly quarantined. Now, it's getting out of hand once the people are allowed to roam even somewhat freely once they get home.

The entire CHL will suspend play probably tonight. Seeing some London Knights season ticket holders flooding buy and sell groups on FB trying to unload games in the next couple weeks to uninformed people who don't know yet. And of course there is no way to directly message admins of those groups to let them know this is essentially a scam at this point. People suck.

No and that would make the idea impossible. Guys becoming UFA's would love it though, jump to a team in the latter end of the playoffs on a 1 year deal to try and get a SC. Imagine if a team like Arizona got in and caught fire and went to the Conference finals only to have Taylor Hall leave? That would be some drama lol

There is zero chance that contracts will be allowed to expire July 1 if teams are still playing. The owners and union would agree to a modification.

Also, a player jumping to a new team in the middle of the playoffs as a UFA is a complete and total impossibility, even if they did become FAs on July 1 regardless. They would be ineligible to play.

The contract runs until July 1st, there is no legal way the league could extend the deal. It is a legally binding contract. The players would have to sign off on it with a salary agreement in place.

If the NHL and NHLPA agree, it can change.

Right, so what is your point? Did I not say that in my last line? The players would have to agree to some kind of extension that runs the term of the playoffs.

It’s as simple as an amendment. But I think it would be unlikely.
