MLS suspends their season. I can't see the NHL being the only one to continue. Although PGA is playing the Player's Championship right now with fans. That seems pretty tone deaf.

Aren't they playing without fans?
Golf is a little different though. Very minimal contact.

LAFC and Cruz Azul have a Champions League match tonight in LA. With fans.
That could change.

It will be the summer of Golf.
Not big crowds to begin with, lots of interpersonal space. They can pretty much carry on as normal.
Time to jump on the bandwagon of your favorite player and prepare for plenty of naps.

WHat an asshat.

Agreed. He deserves and will likely receive a severe punishment for his behaviour. Hard to believe he'd be such a jackass. Who'd want him back on the team?

Hopefully he can be the poster boy for all the Trump followers running around being defiant. I was wondering if he was a Trump supporter and that was driving it, but apparently he has been a big Trump critic in the past, and he's from Europe, so you'd think he'd be more sensitive. Jeez.

Hearing that on-ice officials who are on the road now to work NHL games have been told to book flights home ....

It is more than likely, if not a certainty, that things are going to look significantly worse in the next few week so I can't see how the NHL could possibly justify continuing with their season. If they were to cancel/suspend next week or the following week, say, as conditions worsen, they would look like complete idiots given that other leagues have suspended theirs already.
Noting from that Medium article about how significant even one day of delay in taking proactive measures is in affecting transmission rates, I hope the NHL closes the season today. You would have to think there would be a few in the crowd of 19,000 tonight who already have the virus (with or without symptoms) and would most likely transmit it to others in the crowd. Not worth the risk to this city, IMO.

Private beating? Perhaps with PPV options?
Seriously though, perhaps it will be a blessing in disguise that this happened the way it did, with the NBA season cancelled so abruptly, and with the NHL expected to follow suit. Earlier cancellation means earlier mitigation, and people who didn't take it seriously are probably thinking differently now.
At the very least, it casts a bigger spotlight on what this pandemic really is, and more information and education is a good thing.

Yeah, it's not coming from that kind of place at all.
I figured if the isles and officials were here already, why not.
Not much spread in the YYC area. You're probably fine for a game, without being an awful human being for wanting to see it played.
But hey, #### you too.

If the NHL is shut down for a prolonged period that would mean that players are not likely able to do a lot of skating or working out in public places in the meantime. Would be like training camp all over again if they were to resume.
