I'd agree with Hendog here. JT Miller has always been a very good player and he's fit in really well with the Canucks. He's also the same age as Gaudreau at only 26. Plenty of good seasons ahead of him.

Ya it will likely not be a great trade, similar to the Hamonic trade in that the team giving up the draft picks is a bubble team and their window is much further away than management thinks it is. If Miller is a point per game guy for the next couple years the trade will likely still look decent though.

Time will tell I guess but if the Canucks miss the playoffs this season and then have their first rounder for next year gone it could get pretty scary for them, especially if they don't have Markstrom. They also have some MASSIVE contracts coming up.

Really? I think that trade will continue to look good. If (although it may be when) the Canucks miss the playoffs this year they will likely draft in the 10-14 range and those picks are usually a 50-50 chance of turning into a really good player. And Miller has been a point per game player for the Canucks the entire season and has another 3 years on at a good salary.

Plus the Lightning traded that first round pick (plus a good prospect) for Coleman... so in the long run the Canucks did very well.

Benning is good with drafting (some misses but lots of good players), good with trades (same thing), scary awful at free agents though.

Perfect OOT so far with Minny losing in regulation. Go Kings go!

If the Canucks miss the playoffs this season NJ will get their pick next year and it could be very high, especially if they lose Markstrom

I had this same argument on Feb 20th after Miller scored 2 vs the Wild. Since then I’ll admit it was maybe too soon for Vancouver to trade a first and their success this year is more to do with goaltending than goal scoring but I still think it’s a win for the Nucks. A 30g 70p player in the prime of their career in a good contract is more than reasonable for at worst a mid first rounder.

Enough about the Nucks being good though, man that blown lead was satisfying. Keep collapsing please.

Oh man the OOT has been great so far. A LA upset is the icing on the cake.

The pick is protected and I think they can make the playoffs at least once in the next two seasons but yeah it’s possible. It would be hilarious if they miss by like a point this year then next year miss again and win the lotto.

Flames getting a huge gift from the hockey gods with this OOT tonight. Let's hope they can take advantage on this upcoming homestand and finally string more than 2 wins together.

Two straight days actually of perfect OOT (depending on who you wanted between Winnipeg and Edmonton).
