Ya this is where my concern is with this team, i dont think they are resilient at all. Very fragile and easy to play against overall. Hoped the silver lining from getting bounced the way they did last year would be them coming back angry and determined. Instead they had a terrible start.
Hopefully i am wrong and they keep playing well, get some more points this weekend. The pressure is on on and there is a small margin of error, just dont have a ton of confidence in the teams resolve.
Oddly, resilience and pushing back is what I thought the Flames demonstrated in this game
But more to what worried you, what they have also shown is a lacklustre effort after a big win. After the Bruins win the other night, I was pretty happy to see the jam they played with last night

I know we have all been venting, myself for sure, but the frustrating thing to me is how they lost. As a fan I expect the Flames most experienced players and/or best defence conscious players to do the basic things. On the game tying goal none of that occurred.
They played great overall but the frustration just kicked in and changed the mood after the fact.
flames really need to have short memories right now. Flames absolutely need 2 points going into a pretty nasty b2b this weekend, especially when both are afternoon/early games. 3+ points over the weekend, and who cares about what transpired last night.

Obviously scoring chances and shots occur due to a variety of reasons, that's why they have a goalie in the first place.
The 2nd to last game tying goal went under Rittich's arm, even he will tell you he should have had it (we clearly agree). The game tying goal with .2 seconds to go he was like a fish out of water. The game should have never even got to OT.
If the Flames are going to make it to the playoffs and win games, Rittich needs to be better.
4 out of 4 goals were turnovers in the Flames defensive zones. Added on top of that, 4 of those were blown coverages by top six forwards. The 4th line with Jankowski, Bennett and Reider actually did a way better job covering the defensive zones last night.

That was who was out there all right, except Tkachuk. He's great at a lot of things, but that's not a great situation for him. I trust a lot of players over him to do the smart, conservative play in that position. He was thinking ENG when he should have been thinking 10 seconds to go.

I wish the Flames would have gone all Baltimore Ravens at the end there. Grab somebody and/or their stick with a death grip and the let clock run down.

Brodie made a good play that should have ended the game but for the refs skate. Not sure why the ref isn't in the corner...if there is a close call they will review anyway
It's kind of funny how with 18 games left the flames will have to claw themselves into a wc position...... Only to face Vegas, who they haven't beat and have been outscored 12-2 this season....
I feel it is necessary to point out (once again) that the reason the Flames appear to match so poorly against VGK at the moment is because in that series the home team always wins, and both games so far have been in Vegas. We will see how things look at the end of the year, and after their two games in Calgary where the Knights have been blown out badly in three straight games.

We've been waiting for the Canucks and Oilers to fall out for the whole season. It just isn't happening. Both teams are strong enough and they have the feel of playoff teams.
I think the Flames are playing well (for now), but they are in serious trouble of missing the playoffs. The Jets, Preds, and Wild are right there with the Flames.
I'm not that mad they blew that game last night as I think it's just hockey god stuff, but the Preds getting 2 instead of 0 is a massive swing.
I think it's really a coin toss if the Flames make it. I think Nashville will take one of the wild card spots and it will come down to Calgary, Winnipeg and Minnesota for the last one. I think of these 3 teams, the Flames have the best roster, but have been plagued by inconsistency all year long.
This weekend is huge for the Flames. Anything short of 3 of 4 points will probably have them out of a playoff spot.

I realize we keep getting into this
I get what you are saying, on paper I see no reason why the flames couldn't have a decent series against that team. However, this year's been a disaster (0-2, outscored 12-2), last year they went 2-2. If we include last year, the flames have never won in Vegas, and have scored 3 goals in 4 games there.
If we go back yet another year, again, the flames went 1-3, failed to win there and were outscored 11-3.
Historical results mean nothing in the playoffs, I get that. But as a matchup, by going on 3 years of data, it's not a great matchup. Especially, if they hold home advantage.
What is interesting is that the flames are actually an amazing road team this year, so hopefully we can put this whole "can't win in Vegas" thing to rest before the year's done.

They don't need to fall out for the Flames to pass them...Calgary could be ahead of both tomorrow afternoon...Also the Flames play both teams still. Divisional playoff spot is definitely within reach is all I am saying.
Either the Jets or Oilers will lose tomorrow I can guarantee. How do you figure the Flames will be out of a spot this weekend if they get 2 of 4?

It's also necessary to point out how many wins at home vs Vegas were with Subban in net:
7-2 win vs Subban,
6-3 win vs Subban,
7-1 win vs Fleury in the final game of the season where Janko had 4 goals,
4-2 loss vs Fleury.
Since coming to Vegas, Fleury has owned us outside of a throwaway game 82 the Knights took off as they were heading to the playoffs. At least Fleury is having a down year, so this might be the time to do it.
