Lindholm on in OT over Backlund is one of the worst Flames coaching decisions I can remember. That was probably the worst game I've ever seen Lindholm play since he was like minus-4 in his debut, and Backlund has had the hot hand for weeks.

Just a baffling decision. Baffling.

I’m not questioning their effort, I’m questioning their will to win. There is no way you should ever under any circumstances let that game slip away. It’s an absolute failure. Bar none. Especially given the importance of this game. I genuinely can’t believe they let that one slip away. Three points gone in 0.1 seconds. What a waste.

Also I’m pissed beyond belief right now and just kind of throwing out random angry thoughts. I’m gonna log off CP for a while.

Reminds me of some of the wacky coaching calls in the final moments of CFL/NFL games.
E.g. the Seahawks not giving the ball to Beastmode, the Stamps putting the game on the back of their back-up QB for the final play.

I mean just mental break downs at the worst moments.

I do think in hockey there is something to creating chaos when you pull the goalie. I'm always amazed when teams throw it around looking for the perfect goal. You know the other team will be on edge - so throw it at the net and crash the net. Cause chaos. A lot of empty goals are on broken plays just like we saw tonight.

Coaching matters, I mean how tone deaf to the game you just watched to not throw any combo of Backlund, Bread or Tkachuk out there?

A coach that doesn't have his pulse on the game does this. Might as well have a robot choosing the lines if it's only about odds.

There are a ton of positives to come out of this game but there are some serious, serious pimples to pop before heading to Florida... the goaltending, first of all, needs to be much better than what we saw on the last three Preds goals. Three awful goals by Rittich.

Why did it take you three posts into this thread to post this? Why not just say it in the first one? God you’re annoying.

Game is the game. Annoying for sure but got a point. Onto the next one.

WTF.
Grow up. Not sure why some of you think it's OK to treat posters like you do.

With that Backlund to Mangiapane last minute beauty you could argue the Flames also had the stuff at the right time.

Just really lightning fast swing in this.

1 in 50 games type of ending. Preds bottled lightning in a split second.

Because I hadn't thought of it yet?

Most coaches put their best players out when the game is on the line...even if they are having a tough night. Coach didn't tell them to stand there and do nothing

On a positive note, Backlund was................awesome.

Hope we see this version of Backs the rest of the way, he's been fantastic lately.

Lindholm, Monahan and gaudreau were the only minus players on the team this game. Blame the loss on coaching or goaltending all you want but when your top line are the worst players on the ice you're not going anywhere.
This was the closest to a playoff game this team has had this year and our top line crapped the bed. Again.

Someone tell Flames D it's OK to take a penalty with 5 seconds or less left.

it sucks what happened but unfortunately just a collapse at the end ruined what was one of the better efforts all season. Is what it is. Don't gotta run everyone down

I have not been a fan of Backs but man he proved me wrong this week. Backs can stay.

As 960 pointed out, him and Mangiapane's elevation completely changes the complexion of the team.

It bumps them up a tier if those guys are going to play like that and provide a second (arguably first) wave along with Gaudreau and Monahan playing like themselves.

Might we have to give Talbot some games again though? Cause we need better than that at a key time from Ritter.
