Impressive win. Flames didn't give up too much. Rittich was there the few times that they did. Bruins capitalized on a couple of mistakes, but that's a solid defensive effort.
Hopefully the new additions settle in more. It isn't like Gus has had much (if any) time practicing the PP. Andersson should have been out for PP2, or even Brodie, as I just don't think Hanifin is getting the job done there.
Most of all... the Flames played a full 60 minutes. Didn't take their foot off the gas. Even when the Bruins were pressing and got the Flames hemmed-in the defensive zone, they kept their composure. This is how a winning team plays.

Great win and a huge two points to keep pace. It seemed that everyone contributed tonight, like Dube drawing that penalty, Stone breaking up some dangerous plays and Mangiapane winning countless puck races.
Gustafsson obviously had a strong debut leading them in icetime and registering an assist and a few shots. He has size and skill and an offensive mentality. I thought he competed hard defensively as well.
Forbort reminds me of Sarich and I think we will grow to appreciate him in games against St. Louis, Winnipeg and Vegas who have big forwards that can score. He made a few good blocks tonight and his puck skills and passing are better than expected.
Tons of credit to Monahan and Backlund for finishing chances and getting offensive pressure when Boston needed a push.
Yet another high scoring game. Glad to see the offence rolling and hoping for another boost from a rested Gio.

I had to watch that one on delay, but that was one of the most complete and impressive wins by the Flames all season. It gives one hope, and hope is dangerous.
Thoughts on the new additions:
Gustafsson already looks great on the first PP with minimal practice time. I'm looking forward to how he can inject some life into the PP. One goal tonight for that group. His defensive woes are overstated, but I did see a rush or two that he was ill prepared for. Best to shelter him down the lineup and use him as a PP specialist.
Forbort with a steady, workmanlike game. Nothing fancy, but contributed in his own end positively. Not bad considering he had to take a red eye just to play tonight. Pretty good mobility for a big guy, which is nice to see.
This is the kind of win that can give this group confidence, which is the one thing they've been lacking all year. I suspect you see them go on a bit of a run over the next 10 games, especially if they get Gio back.

I seem to remember the Flames going on a huge run when they added Stone and Bartkowski at the deadline
Neat thing is, I think Bort and Gus are both better than those two guys

I like the win but what’s with Derek Ryan bumping Bennett out of that spot between Lucic and Dube? Guy just getting his game going at center but they put DR back there.

Missed the game. How did our sub par centres do against the elite Boston centres?

Saw Forbort with a couple errors but have to give him and Gustafsson some leeway adjusting to a new team and partner. Not to mention the Bruins forecheck is a work of art to watch.

Both played well considering not knowing their teammates whatsoever, liked Forbort below the dots, dude is a cycle killer with that size.
