I would guess it's a signing condition.

Actually quite happy, considering the market. The Flames had 2 major holes to fill. They needed some d-men, with the current core ravaged with injuries. They acquired those.

They needed a solid top 6 forward. There were none really available, and the asking price for midling forwards (ex Pageau) was outrageous. Some teams went a bit all in on those, but I honestly can't see any of those additions being difference makers.

Of course, this is the same fanbase that continually degrades the organization as a failure for making the Hamonic trade. Hamonic wasn't as good as expected, but prior to injuries this year was a solid top-4 contributor for a couple of years. If that's the move you are no okay giving up a 1st for, then you aren't going to be happy with anything that's going down this year.

What's the story on this guy? He hasn't played at all this year including a few AHL games. Has he been injured? Eating popcorn? Some of both?

BAd injury.

in 2018/2019 he was Doughty's partner and had a really solid season.

This year in his lat 7 games he has put up 17 hits and 10 blocked shots. Basically an upgrade on Stone.

I agree with your post, begrudgingly.

However, the bolded I do take exception with. Hamonic and Brodie were a disaster year 1, magically, Brodie has rejuvenated his career after being moved away from him. Hamonic and Hanafin were meh all year last year, and were torn apart during the playoffs. Magically, Hanafin looks so much better since being paired with Andersson.

Hamonic has been a disaster given the acquisition cost. I would put it as just as bad as the Brouwer/Neal UFA signings on Treliving's resume.

Hamonic and Hanafin were a lot more than meh last year during the regular season.

For the three seasons before this one, Forbort averaged over 20 minutes a night, and he's 27. Do people realize that?

People don't recognize the name, see that he's had a few AHL games this year, and assume he's just a Fantenberg. Pretty funny thread actually

Screwed up his back in the summer. AHL games were just a conditioning stint

Yes - and got SJ 4th rounder for Frolik. So we had a full complement of picks coming into today.
