No it doesn't...go look at some stats on the average 4th rounder

He is a UFA and with only 20 games left, I'm not sure how much of a tangible difference that would make.
I am kind of intrigued by this pick up. Maybe this is part of setting up to re-shape the defense in the off season.

Slightly higher than 0 is still higher than 0, my friend. These are the most frustrating kinds of trades because they’re so unnecessary.

Maybe. But I think this is Fantenberg 2.0. An insurance policy.

He's way better than Fantenberg at least.

He played over 23 min last night against Oilers. I watched the game. Looked good to me.

Most likely. But having a 20-game close look at a player who is entering UFA after a disappointing season could provide an opportunity to get a bargain on a decent depth defenseman.

Really? His draft pedigree is better for sure but has he proven to be better in the NHL?
I do hope you're right.

Surprising that Forbert was a 15th overall pick.

I really liked Forbot during his draft year - he seemed like a guy with really strong overall athleticism and upside. Not sure why is hasn't worked out - but he's a guy that would be an intriguing option to consider for next year.

He might be referring to Forbort being the main partner of Doughty in recent years.

I hope the plan isn’t to give Forbot a considerable amount of playing time over Kyllington. Though I may be biased as I want Oliver to become a mainstay on the team. See too much potential and progression by him since the draft. But doesn’t get the same recognition. IMO.

Forbort was a first round pick 15th overall that has played over 268 NHL games. He was on the Kings top pair before injury.
Guy is miles ahead of the average fourth rounder

Not even close. He's not an offensive guy at all but he's steady. He's been Doughty's partner for a while. His stats this year would look bleh becuase he messed up his back in the summer and spent some time in the AHL on a conditioning stint.
He's still a bottom pairing guy on the Flames but he's a regular roster player, not just press box depth.

He played on the top pairing with Doughty to start last season. Injuries have been his major problem.
He’s a shutdown guy.

There is value, especially considering we don't know the full scope of the current injuries. A late pick like a 4th is good insurance so you don't have another Brendan Evans scenario.

I like this trade. This is exactly the type of Dman we need for our buttersoft team.
Hits the past 3 seasons 180,142,105
Blocked shots 159,156,139
