He'll be traded in the summer, not now. Unless it's a no-brainer win for the Flames today. You don't make a deal with JG with a couple hours left on deadline day. Will probably be traded on draft day, imo.

I guess it depends on if you think you can sign him to an extension or whether he even wants to. I'm not sold that he wants to stay in Calgary long term. If he doesn't, this summer is the best time to deal him as he'll still have term on his existing deal. And deals that big don't usually take place today, they take place during the off-season. Draft day deal with picks and players involved seems likely to me. Wouldn't be surprised to see both he and Monahan playing somewhere else next season.
