No asset escalation there

The prices for Green and Namestnikov have been quite reasonable and I would have been okay with the Flames spending that much.
Hopefully the work they do today is more on the larger variety.

It really feels like flames are big game hunting. Flames were apparently in the conversation for the guy, and you have to think a 4th would be completely acceptable asset cost.

He was at first. Tried building an old, slow veteran team full of former Brent Sutter era Flames.
But since the post-Blake Comeau era began he's completely turned it around. Total change in philosophy from free agency to drafting.
Doesn't hurt that he bottomed out a couple times and picked up Rantanen and Makar though.

The Avs finished 21st in 2014-15 (the Flames currently sit 18th). Hardly bottoming out.
Rantanen was drafted #10 OA. I'd call that good scouting, rather than good fortune.
