But why. Seems like a wash, give or take. Still can’t figure out if we’re buyers or sellers

I think Tre himself isn't even sure if we're buyers or sellers at this point.

Different scale, but this has a MacInnis for Housley vibe.

So now Treliving has to run everything by Tkachuk before making a deal in case it bothers him?
Just.....no.

What a ridiculous take, common sense tells you if you pull the rug put from a group that not only has a solid chance at the playoffs but another division title, players are not going to want to be here. Not rocket science, we have seen this story before in the NHL.

Id do brodie for barrie
Debatable on who is worse defensively. Barrie is more dynamic offensively - Flames need an offensive rh D for PP - Anderson is not that answer now or in the future.

Their chance is not that solid though. It's equally as solid as them being a lottery pick team.
For a pending UFA, it's just the smart move to move them if you're not going to retain them. And again, it's not completely throwing in the towel in the season. You can still have belief in the group to make the playoffs even if you trade a good player. It's very possible to trade Broide, and possibly bring in a player that can instantly help as well, that will be sticking around past this season.
Either way, the team hasn't done well enough that they've placed themselves into sellers position. If the players are upset that the GM ends up doing that, they have no one to blame but themselves.

Hey in the longterm we could have Cale Hulse and Jocelyn Lemieux.....
Better off to hang on and have nothing if you ask me.

With the current injuries on D? Yes, it obviously is if you are moving him for a draft pick. First the ridiculous comment about Tre having to run things by Tkachuk which was never said by anyone and now this. You are on a roll today.

I didn't see Tarasenko, Pietrangelo, and Parayko among others revolting in St.Louis after they traded key pieces two straight years at the deadline when they were in the mix for a playoff spot.
These are professionals and they are expected to play hard everynight regardless of who else is on the team.
If they do sulk and whine than trade the whole lot it would pretty much prove that this group lacks the internal desire to win at this level.

Read my comments in the thread, I don't have a problem with moving Brodie for another D man, I have said multiple times if you sell Brodie for a draft pick or two you are sending a very bad message to your players. You have to give them the chance to make it or you have to make wholesale changes in the offseason.

What key pieces? Shattenkirk? Nope, they had lots of depth D and were healthy on the blue line. His play was trending down and he had an ugly contract Not remotely the same situation.

They are YOUR comments...lol.
Believe what you want but there is no way that trading Brodie either "pulls the rug out from this team" or has "Tkachuk wanting out of town"....which is what you were saying...yes or no?
Too funny.

^^^ while I agree I think it would be terrible asset management to not sell one of Brodie or Hamonic for futures with Hamonic being my preferred choice. Unfortunately this whole year has been filled with crap luck for this team and naturally Hamonic goes down a couple weeks before the deadline.
Really rough spot for Treliving to be in which is why I think we are hearing the rumours of ‘hockey deals’ being discussed by Calgary versus futures deals.

Yes, your takes when it comes to hockey generally are too funny. They were not my comments, you twisted my comments as usual to make some ridiculous comment as per usual. Things like BT has to run things by Tkachuk is hyperbole and typical by you. Are you sure you and Flash are not the same person?

But what if they don't make it? You lose Brodie for nothing. And even if they do make it, you lose Brodie for nothing still. That hurts the Flames more in the long term, than the immediate turn.
This is about the next several years, rather than the next couple of months.

If you’re convinced wholesale changes are needed in the offseason, it sure would be easier with a few extra draft picks.
