No wonder the Oilers and their faithful love this guy, I'm just waiting for the key to the city ceremony to be announced.

This is a player who is a loose cannon and shows no ability to take accountability for his actions. He is a danger to other players and the message needs to be delivered accordingly.

I could picture the announcer from Slap Shot reading that rap sheet as he is introducing Kassian as a starter for the Syracuse Bulldogs.

This better be a lengthy suspension.

I was shocked that Kassian only got two games - the same as Lucic for the single punch. Kassian's actions on Tkachuk was way more violent and had way more potential to injure than Lucic's single punch.

I really hope Parros really thinks about Kassian's history here, and especially considers what Kassian had to say after he was suspended. Lucic came out in front of the media and said that he needs to protect his teammates, but that perhaps he should rethink about punching someone in the face the next time. Kassian comes out and states he would do it again.

It will be absolutely ridiculous if the NHL doesn't suspend Kassian for 20+ games. I would rather someone do a Dino Cicarelli style slash to my head than being kicked.

You see a person with a clear pattern of extremely dangerous behavior who has shown no sign of remorse or displayed the ability to learn from his mistakes, I see an old-school boy who plays the game honestly! There's a guy who uses knuckle sandwiches to settle scores! Skate blades are fair game if they don't hurt anyone, its about sending a message! Ending careers or affecting someones quality of life years down the road doesn't matter to me, it's about honour.

Bruce McCurdy of the Cult of Hockey (Edmonton Journal) is double and trippling down on twitter than more angles of the play are needed to evaluate what happened. Despite a confession and pretty simple video evidence.

Is it 2 or 3 years "incident free" to shed your repeat offender status?

I'm not sure, but I think it's definitely longer than "one month."

Scott on the NHL Network currently 'thanking' Cernak for not embellishing this 'push' with a skate

Still saying 'don't do that', but referred the Kassian 'push' rather innocuous a couple of times before going on about how dangerous it was. Visual not good for hockey, he admits... but Kassian didn't even look angry when he did it.

This incident and the reaction from Kassian post had re-instilled my faith in my own abilities to see things fairly objectively. Thanks Kassian and Oliers media, I need this.
I'm the same.

Tkachuks hits were clean, and Kassians reaction was horrifying, yet he was praised immediately afterwards by the likes of Burke and Friedman. And the praise continued from many, many others.

I thought I'd lost my mind.

Kassians reaction in the Tjachuk incident would have been horrifying even if Tkachuk’s hits were dirty.

The league does a lot of penalizing for minor things and non penalizing for things that should be major.

Frankly, Kassians comments that he “would do it again” after the Tkachuk incident were worth a two game suspension themselves.

I think it's 2 but it's almost impossible for me to beleive that, at least tacitly, they don't recall that this is a guy that gets suspended a lot, even outside of 2 years. And rightly so. If you do one thing a few years ago, fine, wipe it out. But if you get suspended 5 times, but 2.2 years apart each time, it's fair to consider that.

On another topic, someone on HF said maybe Kassian is actually super smart and wanted to get suspended for the amount of time McDavid is gone, so no one will notice he's crap when McDavid isn't on his line.

Kassian's hearing last time was at 12:30pm MT and the news of his suspension came down at 5:04pm.

It did take all afternoon to reach Kaveman because he didn't think he needed to answer the ring.
