Watched Uncut Gems with Adam Sandler the other night. I didn't really have any expectations, but that was a horribly depressing movie. It was really good, but the tail spin his character goes though to get where he wants to be is heart wrenching.

Yeah, I could barely get through it. Not to say the movie was bad, it was excellent, but holy ####...

Dr Sleep was great. The Shining is my favorite horror movie so when this was announced I thought it would suck, but I just watched it and yea it's really good. It had vibes of Green Mile and Haunting of Hill House. The best Stephen King adaption of 2019 and my favorite horror film of 2019.

Did you watch the director's cut? 30 extra minutes that apparently add a lot of worthwhile background / depth:

Birds of Prey: 5/10
It’s just not all that interesting of a movie, and there’s not a lot of chemistry between Quinn and the other characters.

Lowest box office opening of any DCEU film. Hopefully this will lead to a slow down Marvel and DC movie releases.

I can't imagine Birds of Prey having any impact on Marvel's philosophy whatsoever, it's basically incongruous in every way from their films.

My post from the Netflix thread...
Uncut Gems was good... I think?
Hard to tell when it’s anxiety ridden from start to finish. It’s uncomfortable to watch, but Sandler’s performance is a amazing.

Well I loved Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. Loved stepping into Tarantino's version of 1969 LA and watching him insert two fictional characters in the whole Manson Family - Tate murders.

I liked Birds of Prey.. shades of Deadpool. They had help from John Wick's director for the action sequences and it showed (intense yet coherent). Although there were a couple slow parts in the film where I couldn't help but doze off.
Ewan Mcgregor might be my favorite villain from any "hero" flick in a while and it helps the film a lot. You can tell he had a blast with the character, just going completely off the handle.
And no, the women didn't have much chemistry, it's true. But oddly it kind of worked in its favor... like that Deadpool crew. Just essentially a group randoms/misfits that decide to hang out and destroy some bad guys. In one's case because she had nothing better to do. The fact that it embraces that is mildly amusing.

1917 was very cool to see in theaters. Took my parents who haven't gone to a movie since Armageddon.
We all loved the movie. Felt like you were in the action. A couple of interesting twists as well!
Highly suggest you see it in theaters.

Watched Uncut Gems today. I really enjoyed it. Adam Sandler is seriously awesome when he’s not playing a 40 year old man child for the 15th time.

I hope it brings a quick death. Enough is enough, move on to something else.

Marvel/Disney don't give a flying Dumbo what crap project DC puts out. They've got their timetable set.

Meh. Disney is destroying Star Wars so one can hope they do the same with Marvel.

Ok, I don't know if this means he did a good job in the role or if it is because I hated the character, thought it was done way too silly to be a believable villain, but I completely did not realize that was McGregor.
