There’s the Nav Canada charges that are passed on to passengers. The amount depends on the distance of the flight.

I've flown Flair, and while their name is a bit of a misnomer, I had no real issues with them.

If it's truly only AIF and taxes, that's a better deal. I don't care enough to look into it, but if anyone is considering buying the pass, they should.

My other concern would be availability. I find that places that take your money up front and promise you something in the future tend not to have availability when you want to use it.

I am not calculating whether it's a great deal or not. I'm not guessing whether the airline will go under, the schedule fits someone else's schedule, and/or the number of people that have passes that would be allowed on the flights. All I'm saying is if you really want to know what fees and taxes are for a route, it's a pretty simple task to accomplish.

I've used Flair a few times, and they saved me $300 this week on an emergency trip over what WestJet was going to be. Especially short flights like Calgary to Winnipeg- I don't need any frills; just a seat and a place to put my duffel bag. (Under the seat in front.)
I was talking about the $500 pass. But your point stands on the $700 one. My SIL flies Flair on a regular basis to visit. Some of the things she's seen transpire are nothing short of hilarious. I don't disagree it's exceptionally cheap though.

Well, your snark aside, they actually do not provide a breakdown between flight, fees and taxes when you book a flight on their webiste. That said, I did call them, and (after the operator explicitly noted that this information is not anywhere on the website) they told me it was the AIF plus the security charge, which for YYC departures is $35-40, for YVR is $25-35, for YXX is about $10, Pearson is $30-40, and for Kelowna is $25-$30. I didn't ask about Edmonton or Winnipeg as I don't have any plans to fly there.

So for anyone who's wondering, there you go.

Are you sure you’re using the website correctly? I mean, good that you found out the fees. but if you dry run a booking from say, YYC to YVR there is a summary of the price on the top right side of the screen. If you click it, it tells you all of the taxes and fees.

Quote:
price summary

fare

$347.90

taxes & fees

Goods and Service Tax (GST) $20.86
Air Traveler Security Charge (CATSA) $14.24
Airport Improvement Fee $55.00
$90.10
total 438.00

The truly concerning thing there is not me not finding that breakdown, but that they completely misquoted the fees to me on the phone...

Checking it out further. Seems the agent that quoted you the price is off about $5.

YYC: $30 AIF
YYZ: $25 AIF
YXX: Does not appear to have any

They were probably too busy laughing at you for not finding the information on your own.
