The Flames actually look like they are trying tonight. Could the slump finally be over? Overcoming a first minute goal then a crazy bounce would be great for morale.

If the same 3 Gaudreau go-tos aren't working, playing a simple hard-working game like Ryan would be a huge improvement from what we see since last year's break

Have to say, if you were looking for a good effort, that's what you'd want to see right there. Flames outplayed them at even strength in that period.
Potentially unpopular opinion: is John Shorthouse a better PBP guy for these games than Jim Hughson? I know we'd all prefer Ball, and fair enough, but Shorthouse is honestly pretty damned good. He actually discusses both teams more or less evenly and unlike Hughson doesn't get distracted by just jerking off to the big names.

Oh my gawd!! The media hype around McDavid is utterly ridiculous. Does there have to be a major ####ing media storm after every Oiler game? It is bordering on ridiculous!!!

Flames dominated play after Tkachuk's fighting major, but it was more even through the latter half of the first period. Too many Flames shying away from the hit instead of finishing their checks.
Needs to shoot more at the net. Too much trying to find the open man in the offensive zone.
