Regardless if it’s Treliving, if the Flames org can’t get it together and let any assets walk, or don’t get equal or better value, can’t find someone suitable to recoup assets, or even if they can’t find a good NHL coach to promote a winning culture, helping ease players’ choices to stay and compete, I’m done. I’ve seen way too many blunders to “let it go” once again. Mediocrity has been sucking my fandom since the 80’s. 2004 was a flash in the pan.
Al MacInnis - traded based on $1 mil. (Recently named top 100 players of all time)
Brett Hull - Traded
Martin St. Louis - let him walk
Dion Phaneuf - horrible return for what he was advertised as at the time. Staj is a helluva human, however Hockey wise, the trade was poor asset management.
Jarome Iginla - enough said
Jay Bouwmeester - enough said
Next up: Giordano, Johnny, Mony, later down the road Tkachuk.

You keep calling Ward "Gully" to his face until it sinks in!

I like Ward but, have to agree, this is a head scratcher.

why can't they flip Lindholm and Monahan for a few games and see how that goes?

There's a reason he hasn't been a head coach.
Guy is over his head. The sooner they get a permanent solution behind the bench, the better.

This season the Flames have been especially streaky. I wouldn't be surprised if they get hot and start making a push . That said, they have been flaccid last two games, so who knows. My point is that we have no idea what's going to happen.
The only thing I do know for sure, is that every time the Flames have lost two in a row, since I joined this site, people act like the season is over.

It is becoming very frustrating that we can not seem to get any solid lines. I don’t know what the answer is but I may try just throwing it into the blender again lol. I will play along because it is fun to throw out line combo’s.
Tkachuk Ryan Mangiapane
Gaudreau lindholm Robinson
Lucic Monahan Dube
Bennett Backlund Rieder

Just mediocre Flames doing mediocre things. Do I think they will make the playoffs and have a couple of win streaks in them, sure. Do I think this is actually a contender after 6 years of building, no. Are they a legit threat to anyone in the Central, no. Maybe i'm just expecting too much to want a contender a few times every 30 yrs though. This is why I personally get upset when the up and down trend continues on and on and on. I can't speak for others though.

Looking at the lines, it strikes me as patently obvious that any team with eat bread as a first line winger is not very good.

Made up for by Buddy Robinson as the 2nd line winger? I honestly wonder how Frolik would look on that first line, swapping Backlund out for Lindholm on the 3M line.

Funny that the $4 million in cap space he opened up with that trade may not even be required as the way the team is trending they will probably be a seller and not a buyer at the trade deadline.

And Robyn Regehr. The return for him was awful. Though would have been better if they had kept Byron.

Although that trade was a win just for the fourth round pick in a deep draft, alone.

Which teams overload their first lines these days? There's only one puck, makes sense to spread the talent a bit...lots of teams have guys like Mangiapane playing in their top 6. Buddy? maybe not so much...

I actually like this (or at least the idea of splitting JG and SM for a while), though I think you keep Lindholm's line together as he continues to improve at C. Would be curious to see Bennett on Monahan's wing with someone like Rieder.
