Soo... No one knows what any coach made, the market, or who may have been offered gigs and declined or not offered for cost.

We have no info on pay for coaches at all? If so that’s Maga hat Donald trump level made up.

I’m being a smart ass. I mean it for a laugh not to pick a fight. I don’t buy the reasoning but everyone is free to have their own opinion.

I've said it a few times now but this core needs a shakeup.

That was my first game at the dome this season. Good ####ng grief that was terrible. Backhand sauce passes...turnover. Cute little drop passes...turnover. Half assed attempt at taking your man...odd man rush. I was legit appalled at what I was seeing. Just going through the motions out playing some shinny with the boys on a Tuesday night. Ugh what a gross gross effort.

That was pathetic, and I hope Trelving thinks that as well. Can't do much right now, as this is when ####ty trades are made. But this off season I sincerely hope there's some major changes. This core has had plenty of time, chances, and coaches to establish themselves as a threat; let alone be a contender.

I know it was a division winning team last year and a top team in the league overall. However, that team started to fade after the all star break, lost in 5 in round 1, and has been very average at best this year.

Time for something new.

For all you coach mongers its time to get off that train. We have been changing coaches over and over and makes no difference. There is a players issue and that falls on the manager. We only have a couple better players up front and they are not rocking. Move some players, draft some good players and build the team.

Land back in Calgary and get greeted by this score.

Just pathetic... and yet, completely expected.

We keep hiring crappy, cheap coaches.

All coaches are not created equally.

This all falls on the manager.

Our rebuild was made of Lego. The Avs melted a bunch of pieces with a lighter and now we can't even build a ghetto ass multicoloured house.

I disagree,

Look at Quenneville in Florida, he's squeezing out the most of that team and they're playing some damn good hockey. Coaches can make a world of difference.

Agreed - and look at Torts and what he’s getting out of the Jackets. Meanwhile, our last 3 head coaches are all no longer head coaches and will likely never be head coaches in this league again.

It’s an absolute joke.

Sid Crosby saw his numbers tank under Johnston, Crosby faithfully played the system the coach wanted. BTW no one is saying a coach will fix everything.
I’m a pretty big believer, especially these days when most teams play a very similar style, that good teams breed good coaches, and not the other way around. My point wasn’t that the Flames don’t need a good coach, my point was that I don’t think hiring a good coach is going to change anything unless significant changes to the on-ice personnel comes along with it.

As much as I love Gelly, what has he done to keep his job over the last 7 years? Our PP is horrendous.

A bad chef can make a mess of good ingredients.
A good chef can do wonders with good ingredients.

We have bad, overpriced, expired, rotten, flavourless ingredients.

This is in staggeringly complete disagreement with the post you responded to that addressed Crosby and team under bad coach vs good.

And then there are the Blues last year.

Maybe I misunderstand you, but coaches actually do contribute to team success.

If the Flames don't make it pass the first round of the playoffs, I believe Treliving is done as GM.

It doesn't seem like it's worth hiring a coach when the GM is justifiably on such thin ice. A nrew GM would make that decision.

Same class as GG and possibly Ward.
I think a new coach is needed. I doubt its going to happen during the year. I don’t see Ward as a choice by Treliving as a permanent replacement - which may be why the players aren’t performing.

BTW, losing coach for 80% of his coaching career describes Gallant as well.

The ingredients that were the best team in the Western Conference last year are all rotten?

Ok

I'm now chalking last year up as one of those magic in a bottle seasons that everything that could possibly go right did for the Flames.

This just seems like the 17-18 season again and maybe that's what this roster really is.
