The Flames have enough talent to make the playoffs, but not enough heart to win a series. This is way beyond coaching.
I’m ready for a major reboot.

Absolutely no pace. Side to side passes. Forwards standing around. 4 shots in the third. Awful to watch.

When the flames have a 1 goal lead, we turn on the late 90's NJD trap game. When we are losing in the 3rd, teams still put the boots to us offensively. That's on coaching.

Who knew Michael Frolik was propping up Mikael Backlund?

Geoff Ward to the media after the game:
"You’re trying to get at something there and I’m not going there. I have a long history with these players and they've been good this year. I'm not going there."

I like Buddy a lot but his long distance passing game is a solid 1/5.
It’s so noticeably bad.
His forechecking is 5/5 though.

People are still blaming coaches?
This team eats coaches and spits them out. The most skilled players are poor professionals and bad leaders.

I think Jiri and timbit are spot on.
The team (and actually most... all? teams) rises and falls with its' best players. When Gaudreau, Monahan, Giordano, Backlund, etc. are all having off years, this is what you're going to get.
Gaudreau and Monahan in particular... yikes. I mean... one can only speculate what's caused that drop off a cliff, and I'm pretty sure everybody has their own ideas, but whatever it is- tough to call these guys "professionals" these days. There's simply no way you score 99 points one season, and then all of a sudden just forget how to play the game. Dude just doesn't want to be here.
And it's pretty obvious, at least to me. It's not going to work with this group. Time to move on and maximize value on assets.

Still waiting to see the Flames play like their playoff lives depend on it.
At this rate, they will miss. When does desperation settle in? When it's too late?

At least they have one of the most exciting players in the world to watch. This season has been hard to be interested in watching games for because Flames best players are dog ####, and the team is so lifeless and dull as a result.
Can't wait for major changes. That's what to look forward to now.
Maybe next season(s).

But think of all the money the Flames have saved by cheaping out on coaches for a decade.

We hire crappy, cheap coaches. We get crappy results, and the cycle repeats.

If Buddy Robinson has been playing like this all year in Stockton, you really have to wonder why it took so long to get him up here.
His game is solid in every area of the ice, and his GAF meter is higher than anyone else on that bench.

This team is beyond bad. I don't know how anyone thinks that getting some scoring help will do anything. Even if they did get some more scoring, does anyone even believe that this team could win a cup?Too inconsistent all year long. Need a new coach, Ward is not a good coach, his decisions are bad. Trade Gaudreau in the offseason. Trade Hamonic at the deadline. Hope to get a good draft pick. This team needs a retool - post all star break last year to now has been a bunch of poor hockey.

This is what Flames playoff hockey looks like! Don’t you remember last April?

Treliving ruined an already fragile team when he traded for the worst contract in hockey. This season was over for the Flames before it started.

Give him time. Like the others, he will slowly fall into "flames"

Bring back Hartley. Screw the players and their soft hearts.
Seriously though Laviolette is like right there.
Wont shock me if trades happened this coming weekend. Little California swing.
