Some of those shots are just to get a freeze and a faceoff. It's a better plan than the old dump and change that just puts the next line on their heels as the other team starts their breakout.

The OOT is very Flames friendly tonight.
A 3rd period comeback would be quite nice, and needed.

I think it's lack of finish at this point. I can remember a lot of games this year where we dominate a team, and badly out shoot them, but have nothing to show for it. It's happened too many times at this point to be just running into a hot goalie.

They didn't. Hopefully they do in the third though

I get so, so many 2017-18 vibes from this team.

Am I missing something? Flames are playing pretty well, games back and forth...aside from being down a goal I don’t understand the sentiment.

Sell right now. No reason to hold onto players like Hamonic. Get anything you can, call up players who want to play hard. Get up off your butt and pay for a real coach.

Dominance means nothing if ths scoreboard shows you are behind. These guys have to put the puck in the net not just pepper the goalie like a bunch of pee wees. I am sure the Sharks are laughing deep down.

Stop changing the forward lines for Christ sakes! Had a solid first period and 5 mins into the second Ward decides to go Vitamix on the lines once again. Stop it!!! So annoying.

Sure not a bad overall effort, but you have to have a killer instinct.
And really, this team doesn’t pass the smell test. Last year when things started turning down a bit this time last year, you figure it was a cool down period and they’d ramp it back up.This season looks like they’re missing something all year maybe a couple things.
It’s also as if they are waiting for the big set of moves that they can go forward with...players and maybe even the permanent coach.
Season started with questions about enhancing the second line, it’s much more complicated now with an already struggling Backlund a long way away from the second line now. Shut down the Flames first line and it’s even more skewed most games than last year.

In a normal year, no.
Yet they probably will even if they continue to play the way they have just because of the division. It's gonna feel like a strange and rather hollow victory to be there. Unless they pick it up and are full marks for punching their ticket.
Maybe they're saving their best hockey for last. Would be a very Flame thing to make a run the one year they don't even deserve to be playing past mid april.

They're playing quite well, but the lack of finish is killing them. Hard to believe this is the same team that finished 2nd in scoring last year. Seems like that playoff series against the Avs completely destroyed whatever mojo they once had, and they're still suffering from some kind of PTSD.
Hopefully they can find a way to come back in this one. With the Nucks losing and the Oilers on the ropes, these 2 points are huge tonight.

People need to go to NHL.com and contrast the points and plus minus of the Flames top 5 salaried players.
Look at their exceptional production from Feb 4 2018 - Feb 4 2019 and then their absolutely abysmal production from Feb 5 2019- Feb 4 2020.
Pretty easy to figure it out.

When you are losing but playing well on here it’s all about just finding a way to win.
When you win by just finding a way, it’s all about the style points on here.
Ensuring the negative dialogue can perpetuate is priority number 1, no matter how you have to do it.

'Our camera man said he mentioned his hamstring, but don't quote anyone on that.' (except the camera man, in the intermission, to the entire audience watching the game). What a complete pin head.
