Let's see a reversal of that please, for at least a stretch of this season. It's time to pull some goals out of your rears, and not revert to protect mode after just one or two.
GG was a disaster. I'm just saying that perhaps if Reaves doesn't level Brodie, maybe that pair has a different story written about them. Brodie was playing his best hockey of the Gully Era when that Vegas game happened. There was a road trip to Pittsburgh, Buffalo, New Jersey and a few other stops where Brodie was our best player and Hamonic was "good Hamonic" and not the pylon he was early that season.
I hated that pairing as much as anyone but itnwas a story of four quarters of the season
1st quarter - Hamonic was bad - injury, new team, new system, etc
2nd quarter - Brodie was bad - no confidence, terrible puck luck with respect to goal events off turnover
3rd quarter - both players played well but pucks weren't going in
4th quarter - Brodie injured, and we barely won a game after that injury even though Brodie was supposedly our worst player that year (he wasn't, even though it was his worst year).
I'd say the other factor is that Brodie wasn't playing well that year period. This year he's looked better than at any point since 2014-15.
It still remains to be seen how he handles the left side.
Would be nice to see the Flames blowout a team for once this season. Has there been a true ass kicking by the Flames thus far? I honestly can't recall any. Seems like half the wins last season were by blowouts.

They need to improve that goal differential ASAP so a blowout win would be helpful

Honestly New Jersey at home in I think in November is the one I keep circling back to. And I suppose in Edmonton in December.
Not enough. Lay down the hammer on these guys tonight.
It's time to display some pride, some swagger. It's time.
Damn, I didn't even realize how bad Nashville/Chicago/Winnipeg are. Has the Pacific ever had both Wildcard teams since this format was introduced?
I still can't get over seeing the 3 California teams at the bottom of the standings. Kings were only amazing for 5 years, but the sharks and ducks had 20 year runs where they were mostly great teams.
I would really like to see those pairings. Hamonic-Brodie would be one of the better skating defence pairings in the entire league (I suspect).

I was clamoring for California's downfall. Didn't think it would happen, then, to everyones astoundment, it did.
The downside is that void basically left the top three Pacific spots open for teams like Vancouver and Edmonton, mediocre/developing teams that to their credit are riding great goaltending (van) and ridiculous special teams numbers (edm) but in any other year would be bumped into the wildcard positions. Flames lack of offense has put them in the same category.
Sometimes you need predators to put the sheep in their spot on the food chain. I resented them, but they do serve a purpose in keeping things in check.
I'm surprised this thread has dropped to 8th 2hrs before the game.
Saturday was a bad dream. Consider it our wake up call.
Flames dominate and don't look back.
GFG!!!
I see a team that had a stretch where they won a single game out of 9, lost 5-2 to Ottawa, lost 4-1 to the Coilers, lost 4-2 to Detroit, and have yet to beat Colorado this year.
That team is the Boston Bruins.
Yes, the team looked terrible on Sat and it sucked getting blown out at home, but we up are still up 3-1 in the season series and still right in the thick of the playoff race.
Yes, there are some huge problems on the team right now and I expect Treliving to do whatever he can to fill in the gaps, but I'm not about to write the team and the season off. I'll be cheering every game until they are mathematically eliminated from playoff contention, or the playoffs themselves.
5-1 Flames tonight, Go Flames Go!
