To answer FFT's question, Lou on 960 says there was emotion today during the drills. Sounds like the guys weren't happy.

Lou talking about how "that's not the Calgary Flames" when discussing how they played on Saturday...I'm not sure I agree. To me, that is the Calgary Flames. Failing to show up for big games is baked into the identity of this team.

I missed the game on Saturday. Can someone help me understand why people are looking for Lucic to get scratched? He's overpaid, I agree, but he hasn't cost the team any games this year and has looked okay on some nights, but I didn't see the game. Is the anger coming because of the embarrassment of the Saturday game and the expectation that he should have fought someone (I'm assuming he didn't fight) or perhaps Lucic was part of a play that resulted in a turning point for the Oilers?

Hanifin and Hamonic don't seem to play well on any pairings.
One seems like he might be a lemon and the other is just not what he used to be. Anyways, our vaunted D-core seems pretty lackluster.

Lucic has one redeeming quality left in his game, the ability to smash faces. In two of the biggest smash face games of the year, back-to-back, he was invisible. Didn't get involved at all. I'd have to watch some film but it's possible he didn't remove his gloves on the bench for fear of getting involved.

I recall reading a comment as well that Lucic was overly friendly with an Oiler player? What happened there?

There has been a couple incidents where it looked like Looch let up on Nurse for a hit instead of finishing his checks. He was invisible both games. I don't blame people for being pissed off at him and it's well deserved. If you have too many friends on the Oilers you don't belong in Calgary.

Well you can't keep throwing out the same pairings that are failing badly when you are trying to win games in a tight playoff race. It's hard to imagine Brodie/Hamonic being worse than Hanafin/Hamonic. Stone isn't great but Kylington was making tape to tape passes to Oilers players for crying out loud. A game or two in the pressbox may do him some good as of late his game has really fallen off.

Giordano - Brodie
Hanifin - Andersson
Kylington - Hamonic
...seems like a much, much better option going forward. At this stage, I just hope we trade Hamonic and manage to get a 1st back.

I'd actually say that's the one thing they've done decently this year, show up for the big games, no show the ones that are easier to let slide.
It's hard not just focus on Saturday, but they showed up for the previous 3 BOAs, all of which were equally as important as Saturday.

If someone was new to hockey and only watched the last game, the best forwards on the team were :
Tkachuk > Lindholm > Ryan > Robinson > Bennett > Mangiapane > Backlund > Reider > Monahan > Dube > Gaudreau > Lucic
and would expect them to be slotted and paid accordingly.

Yes, any lineup with stone in it not an improvement on the current one. Hamonic will completely neuter Brodie’s dynamic puck moving and hanifin-stone is going to spend every shift getting pummelled.
Kylington makes mistakes but also knows how to gap, stick check, and pass. Hanifin gets walked by 3rd liners every game, has no idea how to defend, and plays with the composure of a pee wee player. Yet he led in ice time through 2 periods and has a guaranteed spot. I’ve never seen a player get by on his draft status as much as hanifin. If the flames treated Bennett the same way he’d be centering the second line and getting pp time instead of being used as a 4th line winger. And Bennett has shown much more than hanifin.

Agree as the only forwards in that group I want to keep are:
Tkachuk > Lindholm > Ryan
Trade all the others for picks and prospects.

Is this really necessary?
I've honestly noticed a difference. You don't have to agree for sure, but "people try to rationalize ..." is pretty much saying my opinion is disingenuous.
Be better.

AC should have put up a video of the Oilers cycle to Benny Hill music.

If I'm changing up the D I'd try:
Hanifin-Brodie. Brodie is playing much better defensively these days and has the wheels to cover Hanifin. He probably thinks the game more like Hanifin too. Plus it keeps Brodie on the RD where he likes it.
Gio-Hamonic. They play together on PK, plus they have a more similar pace. Gio is more predictable in his style, so Hamonic can more easily choose his positioning.
Kylington-Andersson. I forgive Kylington on his rookie mistakes, and Andersson is pretty steady. I don't want Stone in, so that's the main factor.
