It's possible to be unhappy about the quality and direction of bandwagon while still staying firmly in place on said bandwagon.

Bring back Bob Hartley! He got the best out of a team that was nowhere as a good as this one.

I just don't think Rittich is mentally strong enough either. Ward should've had Talbot in from the start. All this talk about all star game and tshirts about the stick flip seemed to get to his head. He was dreadful to start and should've been pulled in the first minute because he was done confidence wise after the 2nd goal. But you cant pull a goalie a minute in....so he should've never started.

Flames as a team are pretty fragile, so to go down early isn't great...he got a big chunk of third goal but didn't stop it, and the fourth goal was the killer, even though they got it to 4-3 for a few minutes.

I think the team in front of them sees when he's going to have one of those games, or within the game when he loses that confidence, and is then forced to play a different defensive game, which also doesn't help as they are also trying to dig themselves out of the hole he got them in.

Yeah but just wait til after the trade deadline and we will get to hear how he "almost had that guy"!!

There is nothing wrong with this team outside of preparation. Except for Lucic. I love Looch, but we really needed him tonight and he was a no show.

Need another trade like the Lindholm one, something with the same significance and scope that impacts the core in a positive way.

I get the talk of "the process", but like you say, we're 7 years into his tenure. Dont make a trade just to make a trade, thats not what we're asking for, but make a trade to accomplish some of what you're trying to here.

You're right, if they meditated or something, they'd probably win the Cup.

I would rather see the Flames hire Gallant, Laviolette or Boudreau if they can to see what's possible for this group. Then, if this group still can't do it even with a good coach, make bigger roster changes.

Hanafin was as bad as a dman could possibly be tonight, and Kylington and Hamonic weren’t far behind. Lucic can be a healthy scratch from here on out, he’s completely useless. Hire Laviolette.

I don’t want to pile on Lucic. He’s taken a beating tonight but I have to say one thing. If you really want a physical presence in the lineup Rinaldo is a better option. Against the Oilers he is anyway. Lucic clearly has no interest in being mean to his old pals.

Washington, Boston, Pittsburgh, St Louis, and teams like Nashville, NYR, LA & Chicago in recent years.
Teams that are consistently competing to be near the top of their divisions, making the playoffs most years and winning playoff rounds fairly often.
Winning is very hard, but I'd like the Flames to reach a next gear where they're in the conversation often enough and I don't think we have the team for that.

And no, The Oilers and Canucks aren't in that group obviously. This isn't about them, it's about the Flames.

I think a lot of people haven’t wrapped their heads around the league is different now. It’s not about catching lighting in a bottle from 8th place. In 04 when the Flames finished in 6th, there were huge differences in them and the better teams. That was a true miracle run. In today’s NHL, legit good teams miss the playoffs.
Precisely why you need to reach that next gear where you'll be competitive fore a 4-6 year stretch.
It seems like your contradicting yourself by saying catching lightning in a bottle from 8th isn't gonna cut it, yet supporting a team that's headed for that at best. Lighting in a bottle from 8th is the only chance this current roster has.

This team needs some changes, I don’t disagree. But we are in the second year in my opinion of this groups window. And we tare it apart because the won the West last year, but lost first round, and currently sit in a playoff spot? That’s a stupidly short leash sparked by emotion. Last year and this year has given us indications of what we should be trying to change (and the GM clearly saw the same thing given the trade he tried to pull off) but to suggest we are in burn it territory is just emotional garbage.
No one has said tear it apart, but what was our forward leaders of Johnny, Monahan and Backlund has definitely shifted to Chucky and Lindholm.
So retooling by moving some of the former 3 could be exactly what the team needs.

Lesser moves like Bennett & Jankowski should certainly be on the table too, but you probably can't get a return to make those worthwhile.
I'd move Gio too while his value is high and we can get assets back.

What changes would you like to see?

Lets hope not. Nothing more annoying hearing about who they tried to get or almost had. We used to make fun of the oilers for doing that. Now the flames seem to be doing the same thing with who they came so close to getting.

Talbot said post game that he didn't realize he'd be ejected and felt bad (as did we as Flames fans) that Rittich had to go back in. But also said when he's defenseless on the ice and gets speared after the whistle, he's not going to just take it.

Fully agree. Gagner needs to answer for that play.
