So, wait, we're all on the same page that the correct team name is the Seattle Metropolitans, but that they're not going to do it because reasons... right?

The two historic things I connect with Washington/Seattle are logging and Boeing, either of which have a wealth of macho nicknames you can mine, the Axemen, the Lumberjacks
from Boeing you can go with the Hornets or Bombers

Probably already been asked or mentioned somewhere but would there be an issue with calling the team the Sonics and using the green/yellow color scheme?
Bourne/Stewart on HockeyCentral were talking Seattle and colors and these came up. Made me think of their old basketball team.
Working with the lumberjack theme mentioned above me, how about the Seattle Toppers? (tree tops, top of the space needle, mountain peak etc)

Haha this is awesome. During the last two EA NHL games I've played as the Seattle Kraken. Trust me guys, it turns out great.

The Wichita Wind Surge is the proud new Florida Marlins affiliate. Is that fun?
Kraken is bad, but not as bad as the Wind Surge...oh, and the logo......its maybe worse.
Hopefully Seattle knocks the logo and jersey out of the park

Not a shocker though considering the popularity of Wichita State athletics there

The logo I'm interested in seeing because seeing an octopus on the front could be kinda ugly. Good logos tend to be simple and sharp, so I'm curious to see what they can do without 8 legs being involved.

Some of these look pretty great...

So during Seattle's home playoff games, will people throw octopus on the ice?

All I can get

If it's the Kraken, I supposed one of the nicknames will be the "Squid?"
According to the Desert Sun newspaper, the Palm Springs AHL Affiliate has apparently whittled their list down to:
Dragons
Sun
Falcons
Firebirds
Hawks
Eagles
Falcons -- Associated with the Springfield franchise (now named Thunderbirds)
Firebirds -- Associated with former Flyers affiliate in Syracuse
Hawks -- Um, no. Chicago makes this a non-starter.
Sun -- NBA's Phoenix Suns four hours away.
Dragons I can sorta see (mythical beast as is Kraken).
Generally, I think this list is out to lunch. There was a fan poll in which "Roadrunners" was the top choice.
Methinks Palm Spring-ians(?) will need to get better acquainted with the sport.

damn onions

I prefer team names that actually have some kind of connection to the city. Krakens is cool but no connection other than being on the ocean. Much cooler concepts could be come up with that would be unique to Seattle.

How about "The Salt Lake Bigamists?" Huge seller, but hyper local.
