4 years of him getting run over by Tkachuk and crying about it like a baby. Looks like Kassian's head is now Tkachuks condo for 4 years.

Come on guys, this is the type of shrewd move that makes a contender.
Real winners sign long time middling NHLers who put up career years riding shotgun with McAvi....said Alex Chaisson

33 year old Zack Kassian is going to be a super good asset.

Who will bounce pucks off of Kaveman when McAvi and his Masterton and Academy Award nomination demand a trade to Toronto this summer?

Oilers fans: "Bad contracts are a thing of the past now that Chiarelli is gone."

Oilers: *Gives a fourth liner being carried by McDavid money and term*

This contract is going to get bought out in two years if Edmonton finds an actual top six forward to take Kassian's place.

interesting point. Ferland with his injury history etc was a contract not without risk, but I believe he was 27 at contract start versus 29 for Kassian- even that's a big difference esp for players like this 27-30 versus 29-32...

3.2 is a bit high, but the real kicker is the 4 years. Yikes. This is probably going to be his career season. You want to pay him 3.2 for 4 years to be worse than this?

How does that contract get signed with their cap situation? I don't get it.

Kassian is a 4th line bum who benefits from playing with McDavid. Surely they could upgrade to a 3rd line bum who can play with McDavid for less money.

I don't think anyone is surprised as this was a very oiler thing to do. How many players not on the oilers get rewarded with a raise after costing their team a game? You just have to look at the old boys club to see how often the oilers reward failure with multiple promotions.
