Local Breweries?
Hey, I didn’t see a thread in this elsewhere, but the beer might be getting to me.
What do you think of the the local breweries? Any favourites or places to avoid?
I’m familiar with a lot of them, some really good and others not so much. Atmosphere seems to be a bigger draw then the beer itself, which I suppose is okay.
Recommend me a local brewery!

Cabin and Banded Peak are great. I usually hit up Paddy's for food while I'm doing that tour.

I find they go in cycles.
Banded peak used to be good but I went there recently and most of the beers sucked. First time I went to Cabin it was brutal. Last time I went it had a couple better beers.. But I find they all go through these cycles.

Good Mood in the SE industrial (sort of by Big Rock) is my current favourite. Their Hefe is the best in the city IMO.

that's super strange. Their base beers stay the same, I could understand not liking a particular seasonal variety, but the main beers stay consistent.

In my opinion, Cabin, Outcast, and Annex make the best quality beers.

Another vote for Cabin, they're a safe bet... but Zero Issue is criminally underrated. I swear they don't market themselves at all but they have a good combination of interesting and well made beers.

Cabin, Banded Peak, Annex and 88.
I live about a 7 minute walk from Annex, so I'm a happy camper.

All good ones mentioned so far.
Another good one is citizen Brewing up in the north - great food.
Curious about good mood, will have to go one day, as I find their beer meh at best.

Add New Level and Zero Issue to the list.
New Level is always making something new, so every time I go in there is something to try. Also everything that they make is pretty good- very few things aren't good.
Zero Issue does get new beers in, but their main beer Nemesis is always my go-to IPA. That's what puts them at the top of my list.
Cabin as mentioned is also very good.
Random shout out for Mill Street; which may not be "local" depending on your definition. However they do make beer here, and having their options at the Saddledome makes for a better game experience.

Big Rock gets forgotten sometimes, but for me Traditional is still an excellent beer for all occasions.
Banded Peak makes some good beers as well.

Cabin has the best IPAs in Calgary and is one of my favourites.
Dandy is great and consistent.
88 is fun. Lots of variety.
Cold Garden has doggos but is almost always too busy nowadays. If they're busy, Ol'Beautiful is a good fallack.
Banded Peak is pretty good.
Prairie dog had better BBQ than Paddy's imo
Citizen is criminally underrated

I've only been to Prairie Dog once, but I was very underwhelmed with their beer/beer selection. Good BBQ though!

It kills me how busy it always is.
If I wanted to wait to get in, then wait 15 minutes to buy a beer, I'd go to Cowboys.
Every time I've been there recently, it feels like all the seating is taken up by people just hanging out, but not actually drinking beer.
