Ya I don’t get the black puck tracker, I find it causes me to be able to track the puck less because I keep seeing this black streak lol.

Well, this has... not been a good advertisment for women's hockey. Yeesh.

The foxtrack thing doesn't help.

On a other note I love the women’s participation in the all star game. I hope in future we can see an all star alumni game. I would also like to see both the women and alumni participate in the skills competition.

I know this is about building the game, and that this opinion will be of the minority, but this is clearly third tier hockey a couple notches below AHL. I don’t watch the ECHL, so I find this relatively boring. Meh.

Also not loving the puck tracker...would be curious about the 'old style' one though that just highlights the puck, and maybe busts out the red comet tail over a certain speed threshold or something.

Or even just do the highlight thing but have the colour gradient relative to puck speed. Kind of interesting to see the puck speed graphic, but I'd rather be able to sense it while actually watching the play...

So you’re saying it hasn’t passed the eye test? How about the advanced analytics?

They started off slow and it was a bit disjointed but they have really picked up the pace and quality in this second period.

Gotta remember that they didn't have any chance to warm up or anything.

I cant believe they are wearing full cages in an unsanctioned marketing game/event. Never mind that it is non contact so why do you need a full cage anyway?

Switching to visors would be such a huge step in the right direction for the womens game credibility and marketing wise.

Yeah, the second was better.

Actually, if anything, it suggests to me that if they do get the NHL to throw some money at a women's league, they should just do the whole thing 3 on 3, or at minimum 4 on 4.

The women play boys AAA midget teams as exhibition games leading up to tournaments, and they are close games.

3 on 3 isn't a great format either, it works for the NHL player because it takes guys that are a lot heavier and taller and more importantly have to worry about hitting, and takes away two players and basically the hitting, so the skills come out. The women don't ever have to worry about hitting 5 on 5 so addition ability and time and space to showoff skills aren't as big a deal.

I agree, nothing against em it was entertaining but women’s hockey won’t be able to compete with the NHL, AHL, ECHL, and Juniors of all tiers

I really like the women’s hockey but I do agree with you that this hockey is several levels below the men’s. This is why it would be hard to ever have a women’s league that is not supported by the NHL or other deep pockets. As a father of a little daughter I do hope that the women succeed in getting a league setup and can inspire others even if it means they don’t ever make at lot of money doing it.

It wasn’t about the warmup. It was the clear lesser skill and pace. They should’ve probably done four on four because there was too much time chasing the puck when it got away. Nothing against women, but if it’s a second tier product it’s hard to fit that in a major market with an NHL team. Probably better suited professionally for a smaller city with no other professional sport. I guess the one positive was the women shot pretty hard, though the passing was very slow as well as the stock handling. Oh well.

I thought it was pretty good personally.

When Bianca won the US Open was everyone thinking that Federer would have smoked her?
