I’ve been pining for retros for years, and so it’s good that we are close. Make an Adidas version of the 2004 home jersey as our third jersey and I think we have a three top jerseys in the league, and one of the best combined sets.

The adidas jerseys are great quality and fit, and I would love to see the 04 jersey, Blasty on the shoulders, make its return in that template.

It's been said on this site for years that the retros should be the primaries and the 04 jerseys should be the third. Would be the perfect set, and Flames get to keep the black C still.

Remember the Oilers jerseys under the edge program?

So essentially I'm not blaming them. In fact I'm guessing they were on it and made the changes they were instructed to make only to be flabbergasted that other teams just rebelled (original six) and left them deep into a redesign they likely didn't want. (this is all guess work of course).

But then why stick with them?

The red ones at home are bad, but have some qualities ... but the white ones are almost embarrassing to me.

He basically said they didn't want to go away from something that worked, while admitting the appeal wasn't universal. Can't imagine more than 20% of fans liking the Reebook redesign.
If they didn't want to go away from what worked, our RBK edge jerseys would look like the 2004 ones.

Also, bring back the wool socks.

That's different though, it's not the current "Jets" retros.

I have to see this.

Looks like a Flames version of the most recent team canada jerseys? Can you imagine if it has Blasty on there!?

Listens? They’ve had the flags for over a decade and they were universally panned from the get go.

At least your regular kit has a, you know, color scheme.

Can someone explain to me why some people hate the flags on the shoulders?

I think it's the contrasting blue in the Alberta flag.

For me it’s not really just a colour issue, it’s a civic pride issue.

We are NOT Alberta’s team. We are NOT Canada’s team. We are Calgary’s team and Calgary’s team only. Get something that represents the city. The rest of the province mostly supports the Oilers so get that crap off there and there’s 7 teams in Canada so the flag doesn’t make sense like it does with the Jays/Raptors. It’s embarrassing and pretentious to put them on there.

And yeah, the blue sucks too.

I don't think either flag is about being "Alberta's team" or "Canada's team". It's about being a team in Alberta, Canada. you can argue that it's unnecessary, but I don't find it offensive. The color? It's such a small patch I never even notice it.

Yes to the first bit, but I really dislike the colours of the flags. I’d prefer no shoulder patches at all the be honest, but at least match the colours.

Being upset that the flames used the flags to claim the province and country as their own is completely ridiculous.

This one I like. After someone on this board called Blasty a “horse with flammable snot” (or something to that effect) I couldn’t look at those jerseys without suppressing a little wave of nausea.

Not only that but a third jersey with this as the primary logo would be pretty outstanding if executed properly.

A Flames jersey should always have the Flames C as its primary logo. Full stop.

That patch is beautiful however and would like nice on the shoulders of a smartly designed third.

Given that this thread is about Blasty, apparently Flames marketing disagrees.

Frankly I'd be fine if they only every used the retro home / aways for the rest of eternity, but I also understand the need to make some extra cash by selling different sweaters. The whole league does it (except Detroit, I guess). So the choices appear to be, first, you have a third jersey that changes every few years, or second, to change the base kit itself every few years. I like the second option less, so I'm totally fine with the thirds with a different look / logo.

Well, you have to be at least realistic enough that the Flames are going to try to make money by pumping out jerseys just like every other team. At least they're not as brazen about it as some clubs...

Spoiler!
