How about just stop complaining about it then and stay in? Because lecturing posters compounds the problem. Can we agree on that? Let people vent and move on to the next post. It's not hard to scroll your mouse.

Well, like last year 30 teams are gonna end up not winning the cup again

I think this is actually part of the issue for the organization itself. As long as they have Edmonton to compare their success to, they will be able to excuse mediocrity. "Eh, yeah, we're not great. But it could be worse...I mean, look up North!".
The Flames should not just aspire to be better than their immediate rivals; they should aspire to compete with the Bostons and Washingtons of the world. My general sense of the team post 2004 is that they (the players at least) are satisfied with "good enough". I echo other posters' opinions that this team needs more players who hate to lose. Easier said than done.

I know that was Jiri's post.....
This whole thing started with you lecturing me to stay out of the PGT's. All I did was give my views on the matter without telling how you or anyone else should post.

Losing to MTL and Ottawa?! but winning versus TO?
this team is maddening... at this point, I am hoping for a major trade to shake these players out of their complacency...Outside of Tkachuk, anderson, vilamaki, i'd listen to offers on anyone at this point
|
No playoffs for the Bruins or Lightning I guess...Sens beat both

Actually I suggested maybe you stay out if you know it's going to be something you hate so much and since apparently are incapable of just moving on to the next post. That's not lecturing, it's a recommendation.
Try that next time instead of posting about it and creating more content around it. Maybe it'll be easier for everyone involved.

Once the Flames win a presidents trophy or two this joke will be funny, but considering they haven't made the playoffs in consecutive seasons in a decade maybe what you're saying just looks dumb as dumb can be.

But you have to admit that this kind of stuff that VanFlamesfan comes in to do does not add anything, in fact it detracts from discourse. It's just silly stuff. The negativity can be annoying, but ultimately what I want from discussion is everyone just discussing their true feelings and thoughts on the topics, positive or negative.
I don't have a use for overly positive posts just because positive is a better feeling. My happiness is completely unconnected to the Flames (unlike in the 2000's) so I don't require a rosy version of the state of the team, I just want to know what fans are thinking for better or worse.

I was just commenting on the definitive statements
"losing to Ottawa is guaranteed no playoffs"
Sens pounded the Oilers too...that better? Hurricanes? Vegas just lost to Montreal.
It sucks balls losing to a team lower in the standings but its a fine line in the NHL these days...If the Flames lost to TO and beat the Sens they would be in the exact same spot

losing to teams below you in the standings makes life infinitely harder...
Calgary's playoff position is in no way guaranteed; losing to teams you should beat is no way to climb in the standings.
Calgary's team isn't comparable to the Lighting or the Bruins - not if they keep losing to bad teams...
I'm sorry i don't share your optimism that Calgary is going to find a way to reclaim these points by beating teams ahead of them in the the standings

He’s being pretty respectful in his points and you are, repeatedly, telling him what he should do instead
So yeah feels like a lecture to me

Well the Oilers got pounded by the Sens and Vegas lost to Montreal...so at least its a fair fight, somebody has to make the playoffs
I was merely disagreeing that losing to these teams is "guaranteed no playoffs" because its just not true

misery loves company i guess.
i think that at the very least, we can agree that the Flames inconsistency is pretty frustrating.
