Solid period by the Flames despite the Sens scoring first. I think we'll win this one.

When can we get rid of Backlund? He passes are random and creating turnovers. At least bump him down to play 3rd line centre and let him stay there

Backlind has zero chemistry with JG and SM. Last two shifts, first JG gaves him a pass Backlund didn’t even know was coming. Last shift Backlund passes to no one and turns it over at offensive blue line.

He’s a place holder until BT gets his guy, but it’s really been that way since the move was made a month and a half ago, and it’s really really dragging down SM and JG.

Monahan - Ryan - Gaudreau
Tkachuk - Lindholm - Mangiapane
Lucic - Backlund - Dube
Rieder - Jankowski - Bennett

For the 2nd period ??

Because they always pushed the transition game. Well, until the playoffs anyway.

This year, it's been back to the D to D to D to D pass. By the time they move it up, the forwards are standing still and probably half asleep.

It's just so painful. And it's worse under Ward than it was under Peters, IMO. We're pretty much back to Gulutzan hockey.

A few players giving 100%. A few players not giving a crap and looking forward to the break. Matthew cares, gonna have to drag his team with him. Don't wanna lose to baby bro.

Backlund has no chemistry at all with Mony and Johnny. Time to end that experiment. Put Dube up on that line!!

Sportsnet is the worst. Flames game intermission? Let's immediately talk about the Leafs!

Who isn’t dragging down SM and JG?

Plenty of people blaming Backlund but JG just looks totally uninterested to me and creating very little. That line just looks really poor but you have to have a defensive player on that line to make up for the giveaways by JG, Lindholm last year and Backlund has to be that player this year.

I honestly think it's worse with Ward than even the worst Gulutzan days because Gulutzan preached a really strong neutral zone game away from the puck and I'm not sure Ward even does that.

Backlund has 3 goals since he moved to the top line after Peters was punted in last 23 or so games.

Two of those goals have been unassisted, other had Frolik/Gio assist.

While I am certain we will win this game they really need to stop playing Backlund with Johnny and Mony. He is a terrible winger. Like really terrible.

It's a weird feeling that we can still be 1st in the Pacific after this game yet I don't feel 100% confident with this team.

I don’t think Backlund is bringing down John and Sean, they’re doing that themselves. Not a lot of second effort by either of them.
