Kassian is a 4th line plug who thinks he's the second coming of McDavid with his "13" goals all setup by as some would argue the best player in the world.
Lucic or Rinaldo just need to KO his stupid ass and put an end to it. I'd be thrilled to see the trainers on the ice dealing with that mess.

Saw on Facebook that the NHL has contacted the GMs of both teams and told them to calm their teams down. Colin Campbell and George Parros will be in attendance at the game.
An Oiler fan friend of mine said that they called the Flames to tell them to be careful, but they called the Oilers to let them know they will be in attendance to make sure Tkachuk doesn't do anything crazy.... Oh, boy.

I think the situation will diffuse itself. - The game is still a week and a half away.
- No one was injured (other than Kassian's pride).
- Charities are attached to the rematch. Wouldn't want to stain their good names.
The NHL suffered too great a reputational loss internationally because of the Bertuzzi/Moore incident. It took many years to recover.

Its not Calgary that needs to be calmed down, its Edmonton that are acting like idiots.
And I love it when we hear a oiler fan friend of mine, I'm not doubting that he told you, I'm doubting his story. The league stated that Tkachuk's hits are clean, if anything they should be warning Edmonton that if Kassian does anything its a suspension for the rest of the year.
I would hope the NHL is in attendance.
Its a joke that the Edmonton media has whipped up that hockey team into a frenzy and dropped the collective IQ of that city in half. Worst more ignorant and most arrogant fanbase in the NHL, they deserve another decade of no playoffs.

Yeah Kassian is going to get his face punched in by Lucic in the opening faceoff.

The Flames have the nastier players like Rinaldo, Lucic, and even Hamonic to an extent. Bennett isn't afraid to muck it up either. I'm betting Kassian won't do anything in that game.

Edmonton might not want to get into it, the Flames have far more nastiness in their lineup then the Oilers do.
Plus and to borrow from Staples, I heard a rumor that most of the team is embarressed by Kassian and sick of McDavid and Draisaitl getting so much ice time, and won't come to their defense when the ball drops against the Flames.

Lifetime Suspension

The Flamed need to win the game to stay on top of this battle. All this talk for the Oilers is just a big show, it certainly makes it fun as the regular season can get quite mundane at times.

I was trying to point out how clueless he was. He is so blinded by his hatred for the Flames and Tkachuk that he can't see the forest through the trees.

I doubt it. While the media and fans will overly focus on this storyline, the coaches and players will be focussing on winning an important 4 point game. I think any viewers tuning in for extracurricular activities will be disappointed. Kassain is doing a lot of talk in the media but Tippett will likely make things pretty clear with him before the game that selfish play will not be tolerated.

That's the league's biggest fear I'd imagine...a blowout. A tight game probably keeps things in check but a blowout probably results in carnage.

This is essentially what happened between Vancouver and Colorado in 2004: the first game back after Steve Moore's hit on Naslund was an OT win without incident. It was the next game between the two teams that occurred a week later where the score got out of hand and chaos ensued.

I just hope this hoopla doesn't change the way Tkachuk plays the game. If he has the opportunity to make a hit on any player where it leads to a separation of man from puck, he should do so.
The worry is they will goon it up and will target our star players with illegal shenanigans like slewfoots (Draisatl), hacks, slashes, crosschecks etc.

I doubt that MT changes his game all that much.
Maybe he fakes the hit, Kassian cringes and clutches his helmet while screaming like a girl and MT goes around him, picks up the pass and puts it high glove side on Koskinen. then he skates by Kassian and calls him a butter cup and hands him a purse while saying "Sorry maam you dropped this, and a gallon of urine"
