Somehow after his canonization, he still probably lied in his statement, in the girl's trial.

I still think the game on the 29th will be built up and be terribly boring. Flames on back to back and oilers back from like 10 days off.
Good luck with that. LIKE no other team ever has ever tried to hit Gaudreau. It's not that easy with his hockey IQ. Your best bet is to have everyone axe away at his hands like Paul Bunyon.

People figured out years ago that if you take a run at JG you end up looking like a fool. Dmen took runs at him all the time when he first broke into the league, and it was comical what he did to them.

To the surprise of absolutely no one, Kassian doesn't know this.

To the surprise of absolutely no one, Edmonton writers don't know this.

To the surprise of absolutely no one, Edmonton fans don't know this.

Go ahead and take runs at him though. See where that goes.

I was waiting for that, and I definitely disagree when it comes to this case with Kassian. We can commend him for what he does today, but his past is serious and I do not think it was anywhere near atoned for. He got away with it

Oct 2015 - Truck crash
Dec 2015 - Traded to Oilers and shortly thereafter playing with McDavid

As harsh as this sounds, I have a very hard time believing that Kassian was addicted to anything more than partying and being a play-boy. I mainly have a hard time sweeping Kassian under the rug as a recovered addict and considering him a victim in this incident. I also take into consideration what Kassian's alternative was

I will commend him for deciding it was time to grow up, but I do not think that minimizing the incident(s?) leading up to his decision is unnecessary

Given his crazy-eyed threats after getting hit a few times... I think his crazy past is still very current

Banter the player not the person. I don't think that it is fair to dig into someones mental health issues. Quite frankly, I think that it is classless.

Not even slightly worried about Johnny. More concerned about Monahan, Lindholm, and to a lesser extent Andersson and Gio.

The statement about "oh, I didn't think you could hit people that way legally but apparently you can, I'll remember that" definitely makes it sound like there will be some borderline shots taken, and not everyone can skate like Gaudreau. And, for that matter, you're not always on your skates... I seem to recall Neal kneeing a guy in the head while he was down.

Let's not go after Kassian for his substance abuse history. Especially given McGrattan's story of overcoming his addictions and his current role with the team now, it's not a good look for the fan base.

Count Flames general manager Brad Treliving among that group, too. Asked what guidance he offered Tkachuk following the incident with Kassian and the subsequent fallout, Treliving made clear the organization has no issues with how their young winger has conducted himself.

“There’s really no guidance, to be perfectly honest,” Treliving told Sportsnet 590’s Hockey Central crew Thursday. “We want Matthew playing exactly the same way that he always does. And what that is is being, in my mind, one of the top impactful players in the league. He drives the bus for us on a lot of nights, he drags our group into games.

“… So, the guidance from us is, ‘Continue to be who you are. Continue to have the impact you have on the game and on our team,’ and we continue to follow his lead.”
Quote:
“What’s bothered me about a lot of [it], I’m not a big fan of the talk in the media and all the rest of it, some of comments that have been made towards Matthew,” Treliving said. “Number one, we’ve got his back. I think there’s 30 other teams other than ours who would take him on their team in a New York second. And some of the crap, I guess would be the best way to put it, written or tweeted or talked about, I think is just that.

“This is a guy who has a big impact in the game, and does what he does better than most, or any, in the game right now. So we’ll continue to support him.”

Good on Treliving the only thing missing was him telling the Edmonton Media to go F themselves and then banning them from the dressing room with a firm, we prefer dealing with professionals.

Oh and if Principe asks one stupid question about what its like to play against McDavid I give them permission to box his ears and kick him in the junk while making the sad clown noise.

Honestly, I find Edmonton's media just the most irritating thing about this whole situation.

No kidding - It's like Tkachuk ripped Gretzky's jersey down from the rafters of Rogers Place, set it on fire, and then put out the fire by urinating on the charred remains.

Making fun of Kassian because he is a big dummy = okay.
Making fun of Kassian in recovery = not okay.
