I am on the fence about bringing in another coach, Ward seems to have these guys on the right track. If Gallant is still available in the offseason, then he deserves to be the top of the list, I think the guy can help this team win based on the results her has had. Why he has been released from those other teams are still head scratchers.

If the Flames move on from Ward as HC they better do their homework. We don't know exactly why Vegas has dropped him and we sure as hell don't need another Peter's scandal.

This is where it's a bit tricky for BT right now I think.
Since November 29th when Geoff Ward was named interim head coach the team is 13-6-1 which is the 4th best point percentage in the league.
So do you remove Ward from the spot which is pretty harsh for him and might shake up a locker room that has played quite well under him.
Or do you go out and get a guy that has a better, and proven pedigree as a top NHL coach.
Personally I think I would do it for Gallant as I think that's the better long term decision but get that it's maybe not that simple based on how the team has played. Initially I wanted them to do it for Laviolette but my stance there has softened too since I think he's more of a shelf life coach.
Then Brad needs to ask himself whether the Flames' play has actually gotten better since Peters was fired or if the bounces are finally going our way.
I don't see a significant jump in performance. And consistency has never been worse.

They've made their bed with Ward.
Peters was on the hotseat before the racism and assault allegations came out and Treliving was standing by his man.
If he didn't have another coach proactively in his pocket at that time I think it's all but certain the flames will stick with ward until the season is over.

I don't disagree but I think it's more about the timing of how everything played out though.
If the Peters incident were to happen today (assume the Flames record is the same as it is right now) I wonder what the outcome would be.
At the time of the Peters incident I didn't think there really was a clear "name" out there that really made sense for the Flames to go out and chase.
Babcock was the only fired coach, and there was no way the Flames were going down that route.
But if that same decision happened now for example do the Flames still go with Ward and the interim tag? Or would they have taken a longer look at one of Laviolette, Deboer, Gallant?

This is where I sit too.
Results have been better, play really hasn't been that much better. Which is why I think the right long term decision would be a guy like Gallant. Think he could be a good long term fit here as coach, and has a proven track record.
The only other name in rumours right now that might be a better fit would be Boudreau. Might just work better for the roster we have right now.

I don't know if I would be quick to hire Gallant, as Ward has like 14-6-2 (something like that) since being made head coach. But honestly if we traded for a top 6 player today, get a mometum shift, I could see us bringing on a more permanent head coach.

I think you're looking at it the wrong way here.
It doesn't necessarily have to be a 'name'. On one hand it just has to be a body, because now Gelinas is down on the bench instead of the eye in the sky. They lost a coaching body and I don't think have replaced it (i'm not sure about that). That says to me, whether a name was available or not, the Flames didn't have anyone even as a candidate in a process.
For instance, this announcement isn't that Gallant has been fired. It's that him and another coach have been fired because the Knights have already hired his replacement. Nothing ambiguous about it, the Knights were actively recruiting DeBoer before this.
The Flames I don't think had any such intention which is why Ward is still the interim guy, and the flames are paying him more to be head coach.
So even if Toe Blake or Scotty Bowman were available, the Flames wouldn't be in that market, presumably because they don't want to pay the cost for a top tier coach anyway. So whether DeBoer/Gallant/Laviolette were available or not, the Flames weren't going to be crossing that bridge I don't think. In fact, I think if the peters allegations hadn't come out, they would've let Peters coach out the year even if the team was in danger of missing the playoffs.
Similar situation as the Flames where they have went 10-4-1 under Bowness.
Except Rick Bowness doesn't want to be a head coach, he's an *actual* interim coach, whereas Ward wants to be a head coach and his interim title has more to do with the Team than what Coach wants.
