These small nontrivial moral/dick contest wins matter more to the Oilers than actual hockey game wins.

It's amazing. Hope they never change.

They've always been like that - have you ever noticed how important the outcome of fights are to them? It's like a bunch of mma fans with a passing interest in hockey.

Their results show it too. Even while the league was moving away from heavy hockey and goons they at one point regularly iced a lineup with kassian lucic gryba maroon and nurse.

I genuinely think some of their fans would rather their guy win a bunch of fights than make the playoffs.

He cost his team because of selfish motivations yet plays himself off as a team guy, and the poster boy in Edmonton for team guys.

Those hits didn't hurt him. So no, he wasn't defending himself, he was avenging his crippled ego by doing something that would get him locked up if it were outside of that hockey rink, and that's about as far as it goes.

Saying you'll do it again is basically telling your team to shove it, and that they can deal with whatever ramifications come of your inability to contain your bad temper.

It seems fitting that they have Smith, Neal and him in the same room. They're all guys that individually seem to cost their team on fairly regular occasion in different ways but will never openly take accountability for it or see those things as things that they need to work on to change.

The fact that people around their team eat up and celebrate these actions that lead to their team's demise just underscores the entire problem with the culture up there that has led to nearly two decades of losing hockey.

And it the lack of self awareness in that regard looks to be as prevalent as ever.

Hilarious lack of self awareness by Kassian.

He very clearly cost his team a crucial game against a division rival due to his selfish ego-driven tantrum. His coach even says afterwards that he was disappointed with the way Kassian handled it, and wished he had simply taken a number so as to not hurt the team.

Kassian comes out and PROUDLY says he'd do it again.

What a ####ing troglodyte. It's actually impressive that he's somehow dumber than he looks.

Kassian certainly doesn't possess much above the mezzanine, does he? Just a blithering loser who thinks he is a genius, a first line player and the toughest mfer in the entire NHL

He says there will be fireworks on the 29th. Bring it. He has made so many threats, he could easily be suspended for he rest of the season.

I think the Flames should just come out and play hockey, ignore his tantrums and make him as irelevent as he is most of the time. His 15 minutes of fame is lasting a bit longer than I thought it would.

2 clean hits, but because Kassian lost his marbles, this is being discussed way more than it should be. All this talk about Tkachuk being a 'chicken', well he had another big hit on Kassian in the 3rd, so it's not like he was scared to go after him again after the incident, haha.

Tkachuk wasn't going to fight him because he knew they were going to get a HUGE powerplay out of it. He doesn't have to fight at all. Tkachuk couldn't care less about his 'image', lmfao. All he cares about is the team getting the win and he(and Kassian's dumbassery) pretty well got the Flames exactly that. Feels like I'm in the twilight zone with these players/media/soilers fans praising caveman Kassian losing his mind and assaulting Tkachuk over clean hits and pretty well costing his team a big game. The fact that Kassian said he would do it again is hilarious.

Ugly? Check
Dumb? Check
NG? Check

It's like he's the trinity of Oilers hockey for all of their fans to worship.

But this is where it gets interesting. He'll be a UFA at the end of this year. Forget the bump in goals and points playing alongside McDavid. If he forges ahead with his new cult hero status in Edmonton, that is surely worth a 5x$5M deal, no? Holland will have no choice but to pay him...

LOL, listening to the sound bites coming from Edmonton. They are still pushing it was a head shot. Targeting the head.

Sounds like Kassian doesn't care about playing hockey for the next BOA. He's looking to destroy MT any chance he can get. hopefully the oilers end up losing because of it,

Guy needs to be out of this league.

"You messed with the wrong guy (marine)", reminds me of Colonel Jessep in a Few Good Men, right before he gets hauled away to prison.

Tkachuk reminds me of the smart and bratty JAG who "wins" and is played by Tom Cruise.

If Spec and the rest of the hack Edmonton media cared about headshots you'd think they wouldn't be defending what I count as 9 haymakers to the back of someone's head. Even if you had no understanding of physics and believe the first hit was a headshot surely 9 subsequent punches directed at someone's head more than tips the balance? Then again logic has never been their strong suit, I'm sure they would blither past that point and keep talking nonsense about turtling or defending yourself or the code or some such garbage.

Apparently, Zack Kassian is so "old school" that every hit he receives in a game turns him into a whining, flailing maniac.

The Edmonton media guys are all so, so dumb.

Zack acting all tough in the media is about the most Oilers thing a player can do.

I'm looking forward to Kassian's post game interview on the 29th after:

1 - He's lost a fight to Lucic
2 - He's lost a 2nd fight to Lucic
3 - The Oilers have lost the game

Yeah Kassain is so old school that his skates leave the ice when he's trying to lay a big hit.

Can you imagine if Tkachuk actually targeted one of their skill players? It’s been absolutely hilarious seeing the reaction from their so called media, not that they had much, but all journalistic integrity is gone.
