Yeah, why? So that Kassian wouldn’t have been suspended and the flames wouldn’t have got the game deciding power plays?

Doesn't matter if he could've fought him or not, it was a clean hit, thus requires no response.
If every time there's a clean hit that upsets a player to go hulk right there and then, and the person making the check HAS to fight, then just take checking out of the game because there's absolutely no point in having it anymore.

Georges Laraque said Tkachuk broke the code.
What in the hell are these players talking about? When has the code included clean hits? When did it include responding when someone flat out starts ASSAULTING you?
I get it, Kassian is the same cut as the 'traditional tough guy' and Tkachuk is the same cut as the traditional rat, but you can't just make #### up to justify assaulting another human being.
Get real. Endorsement in any shape or fashion for what Kassian did is reprehensible.

Realistically, someone on the Flames is going to have to step up and fight Kassian, and if that's not Tkachuk, he's also going to have to drop his gloves at some stage of the game. If that happens early on, this whole thing should settle into the normal BoA level of hate.
I don't know if Tkachuk just fights Kassian, or if it's Nurse, or whoever it is, but if he doesn't do it, there's just going to be a lot of runs taken by Oiler players at Flames players and there's a real chance it could be an ugly night for all involved.

It would be funnier if it was Mike Smith. He might be the only one with a worse temper than Kassian.

Must be written in the contract that you have to say only good things about teams from the city of no good. Her take was honest, and next season she's gone.

I guess this means Tkachuk can do this to McDavid next game while Lucic feeds Kassian his remaining 3 teeth.

This whole incident has really exposed the fact that "the code" is just a term to throw out there when you want to tip the narrative in your favor even when you don't have a logical argument to stand on. This code business is nonsense and makes no sense in the context of this incident. Completely illogical. I could just as easily say Kassian broke "the code" by punching a defenseless player.

Real hockey players would have flipped over when thrown backwards (headfirst) to the ice and attacked Kassian with multiple blade kicks to the jugular - MMA style.
Anything less is just turtling.....

Well, it's going to have to be someone who's willing to fight, and it's not going to be a depth player, so that doesn't leave many options. Maybe Neal?
It'd be funny if it were McDavid, but that seems less than likely.

No one with a rational view on this whole incident knows what him and others saying Tkachuk should've fought knows what they're talking about.
It really has shown how stupid the hockey world is though. This shouldn't be as hot of a topic as it has been.

If we really want to be as obnoxious as Oiler Nation we could actually say he broke the law.

Unfortunately the stupidity and hypocrisy has really come out. I've seen all sorts of ridiculous comments like "the hit wasn't illegal, but it was dirty". Just illogical stuff all around. Makes hockey look bad. The sport doesn't understand what it is or isn't half the time.

Nice to know what the price is for a repeat offender's punishment for an excessive, dangerousnsequence, is after getting knocked down legally three times and embarrassed and bruising said players ego.
RNH better not poke the puck away from Rinaldo three times on Jan 29, or he will get the same treatment, and Rinaldo may not play until Feb 5.
