I think they will give him enough to miss the first BoA game in Edmonton (3 or 4 games).

That way the NHL doesn't have to deal with the home crowd pitchfork and torch hoopla firing up Kassian. Additionally, the whole Edmonton has last change so the optics every time Kassian is sent on with Tkachuk.

What we need

A long Kassian suspension

MT scoring a hat trick tonight.

The ATL Edmonton section would be explosive

I see him getting two games, so that there is the Kassian vs Tkachuk story line, and people tune in. Kassian will be told in confidence that if he does the same again, he will get 10 games or whatever, and nothing becomes of it but good ratings.

I'll say 3 games from DOPS for the punches and 1 game from the league for the comments.

Yup, I think 3 games will be the number. Him missing the next BOA would be ideal for the league in order to reduce/mitigate the possible "retribution" factor.

This. People keep saying Tkachuk didn't "step up". By the time he knew he was in a fight he was on the ice. No intelligent player tries to fight from that position, even after getting up you are at a disadvantage.

To me the most dangerous play all night was the horsecollar to the ice. Which is not "rag dolling" him, it's a cheap, dirty play intended to give an advantage in a fight. Kassian didn't want a fair fight.

LOL. I can imagine the volume level of booing Tkachuk is gonna get in Edmonton on Jan-29.

Thoughts going though Kassian peanut brain:

Me ANGRY
me got boo boo
ME SMASH
ME BASH

Thoughts going though a smart or regular player:
Well ####, he got me good but right now is a bad time to do something game is tied 3-3. This is a big 4 point game, I'll have to hit him or get him back later.

On one hand, I want him suspended for multiple games.

On the other hand, he's a liability, and him being in the line up is itself a punishment to the oilers as it increases their chance of taking yet another L.

It's a toss up.

It's a toss up.

But he's got 13 goals, can't argue with that production.

When Kassian has nearly 10% of your team's goals your team is expansion team bad.

The guy has more goals than the likes of RNH, Chiasson and Gagner. Gagner once had a months worth of points in a game... one game! Kassian is doing better than those guys... Kassian is elite, yo!

Let's give it up for Big Kass!

This is simply the case of an elite player getting under the skin of a role player who has a big ego, small temper, and little intelligence. Tkachuk absolutely targeted Kassian and with good reason as the results went exactly as expected. Kassian cost his team an extremely valuable two points simply because he could not keep his emotions in check. This is not a new or surprising development with this player.

Tkachuk is a #### disturber there is no denying that - he is a player that everyone loves to hate because he is so successful at what he does. It's so funny seeing the hypocrisy being displayed from all the Oiler fans who went after Lucic for punching Sherwood one time with his glove on for taking runs at Calgary's top players, but are outright defending Kassian for going complete ape#### on Tkachuk and legitimately trying to hurt him. Horse Collaring and attempting to punch a player in the back of the head are pure attempts to significantly injure a player.

The first Tkachuk hit was a borderline charge, and if it were called that way I would not have had an overwhelming issue with that - I don't agree however that it was a headshot at all like many pundits are claiming. The refs could have managed everything better - but to no surprise they didn't. I also put the onus on Kassian for continually putting himself in those positions with Tkachuk on the ice - you have to be more aware out there especially if it has already happened to you twice in the same game - but again that comes back to my point about his intelligence.

I think a 3 game suspension is a fair number all things considered.

love the garbage takes from Shelbyville fans...

Kassian jumped Tkachuk and was throwing them before Tkachuk knew what was happening... if you want him to answer the bell then do that before throwing fists from behind.

the Tkachuk Dumba thing comes to mind where they basically stared down then threw down.... What kassian did wasn't part of any 'code'; he lost his #### was swinging before there was any fight.

if someone did that on the street following a car accident they'd be arrested and charged with assault plain and simple.

Listening to Bob Stauffer cry about this on "Oilers Now!" is particularly satisfying.

*EDIT* Oh my god. He is SO triggered by all of this. Stauffer just now complained about Andersson's comments, and brought up an altercation from the 2016 Penticton Rookie Tournament in which Darnell Nurse attacked him. Good Lord.

Haha.

Ah, I'm going to the All-Star game. Which is in St. Louis...I wonder if we can't get a solid Chucky chant going.
