Ah yes, the well known “hit from above goal line to player coming from below” rule. Can’t believe I forgot about that one.

5 games for the incident, 2 for the comments would be about right.

Oiler fans absolutely loved Kassian following this hit.

Opponent engaged with another player, coming out from behind the net, head down. Kassian the hero leaves his feet, gets up, and head straight to the bench. Oiler fans want more of it, the PGT on the other boards are filled with adulation.

This was far more dangerous than either of the hit Tkachuk threw last night, and they want every player on the Flames roster to have their careers ended in response.

Such a despicable fan base.

Just looked at the Oilers schedule: Preds, Coyotes break, Flames, Blues, Flames, Coyotes, Sharks, Preds - could argue that is the season - 6 games are 4 point games.

Kassian is 4th on the team in points and goals. He is playing on McDavid's wing so in Edmonton a top 6 player. Losing him for a number of games hurts that team.

Admittedly McDavid does make every player around him better offensively so the drop off might be minimal but that play may actually cost the Oilers a fair bit this year.

There's no mention of it being in-person, so I assume that means it's not. If it's not an in-person hearing, the maximum length of suspension they can go is 5 games.

A 3 game suspension would keep him out of the next BoA game. A 5 game suspension would keep him out of the next 2. I wonder if that will play a factor in the decision?

There has always been a knuckle dragging contingent amongst Eskimos and Oilers fans. They have been openly hoping for Johnny's career to be ended by a cheap shot for years.

But another player has to be pulled up from the bottom 6, not only giving McDavid an even worse winger, but also further weakening the bottom 6, which is already arguably the worst in the league.

What’s always interested me about that hit is how it inspired both teams. The hit gave the Flames huge energy. But Marleau’s toughness in handling it and bouncing back gave the Sharks some resolve. I have always been super impressed with him after that.

Kassian didn’t exactly handle it like that, did he?

Quick and easy answer Ray, no, no these aren’t the same type of hits. You played the game, go watch the replays of them and Raffi’s hits then firmly remove your head from your ass.

Seriously, I know we are bias down here but the #### that spews from anyone tainted by Oiler stink is seriously bizarre. It’s just so detached from reality it’s confusing.

Agree depth is lacking in Edmonton and he is key for them. 5th most minutes in the regular season among forwards, missed 3 games as well this year.

His outburst might cost them more than he thought in his post game scrum calling it just one game.

Ray is a media taking head now. He could have easily got up on the other side of the bed and made Burtuzzi comparisons instead of Torres comparisons. He's just taking advantage of controversy to stay relevant.

Kassian should have to carry all of Tkachuk’s equipment and be his butler during the All Star weekend.

Ray Ferraro is awful. He is worse than Pierre McGuire in my opinion. The guy thinks he’s the smartest guy in hockey but he’s actually a moron. Ferraro can frig off.

The media bias is sickening and I feel the NHL’s ruling on the play justifies my take.

Kassian is like Moose from Archie comics only without any of the redeeming qualities.

The NHL is actually handling it correctly for once. Guy went nuts with sucker punches because he can't handle being hit within the rules of the game. Tkchuk did nothing wrong. Kassian and the Oilers fanboys should be deeply embarrassed.
